300 East Open For Business This Weekend?

A friend of mine and I were driving down Fall Creek Boulevard a little past 9 p.m. last night and noticed about a couple of dozen cars in the parking lot of the Julia Carson Government Center. We wondered what could be going on at a government building that late at night on a Friday night. So we did want any nosey newshawk would do. We turned around and went back for a little closer inspection. Yes, the lights in the offices above were turned off, but there were some very, very dim lights on over in the freshly built out space for the 300 East "private club/bar." And the front door was standing wide open. Aahh. Who needs a building permit, a liquor license or a zoning permit. We just make the laws up as we go along. And who's going to stop up us? Mayor Peterson? Hah, Hah, Hah.

Mr. Drummer needs to answer for this. Monday morning, first thing.

And if it was a function held in 300 East, he did so without a Certificate of Occupancy.

Which ought to make the township's insurance carrier real happy.

And, if it occured, it should spell the end of Mr. Drummer's tenure as trustuee. If this is true, he will have violated the public's trust to be a good steward of the township's assets.

Let's jsut see how it goes.

The voters of Center Township will determine Trustee Drummer's tenure on November 7th, not some anonymous commenter sputtering away here...

Wilson wants you to know that only Republicans are supposed to resign for wrongdoing.

Democrats are just supposed to keep on keeping on.

I'm not sputtering, Wilson

This is serious stuff. If only Carl and you realized it.

This is not some small exclusive club where a few people can play willy-nilly with assets like buildings.

If it's untrue, so be it.

If it was opened, he should go.

Period.

You said the "front door was wide open". Which door? The door on the West where the restaurant is or the real front door by the bank on the East?

As I've said before, the 2nd floor Conference Center is often rented out for evening social events. You might have seen one of those. It's Circle City Classic Weekend - a fraternity or sorority might have had a soiree.

It's highly doubtful "300 East" would be 'open for business' - a private event might be conceivable but not wise...

It was the west door.

Convenient now that the Savoy is likely shut down. hehehehe

Hey folks, lets make sure we all get pictures and video footage...

Well at least they have done ONE Thing right.

There is a LARGE POSTER on the WEST End doors facing South - It looks like a liquor license notice.

Did they have health department license??? Hmm....

If someone did borrow the space for private function, who loaned it to them?

As usual Wilson is responding to something he knows nothing about. If the west doors were open Wilson, then that was improper. The license issue has not been settled and permission from numerous city agencies (accept the Center Township Trustee) has NOT been given. But acting within the law only effects most of the honest and forthright citizens in Indy ...not the AADE aka the African American Democrat Elite.
Get off the soap box Wilson. Instead of running your mouth, try using the soap maybe then you will make a difference.

I am furious that no one is harping about removing a park to make room for a bar!! ARE YOU SERIOUS? EVERYONE INVOLVED FROM THE THE PARKS PEOPLE TO THE PEOPLE OF THE CARSON CENTER TO CARSON HERSELF SHOULD RESIGHN. This is the most pathetic abuse of power I can ever recall. HOW in the world do they think they can get away with this? This city needs more parks, more safe places for our children to play, and we are going to loose one for a BAR!! I am outraged. These people should loose jobs over this. Why is the media not hitting hard with it? Is it because everyone involved is a power player in the city? Screw the kids right? If it comes to money that is whats important.

I'm glad that everyone is so adamant abotu this issue, but hey lets get things in perspective. The only reason this is an issue is because they got caught, peopel with money push around deals like this all the time. Mays shoudl have knwn better than to push it without taking care of the peopel who would be able to cover it up and slide it through. I'm sure there are plenty of places downtown pushign through deals just like this to get buildings up and businesses established. Am I saying that they are right, NO, but dont' act like this is brand new folks.

The park? Have any of you ever seen this park? Have you seen its location, right next to Fall Creek, one of the busiest streets in the city, the "park" is surrounded by streets and can't be bigger than a house lot, so if that is screwing the kids...I would never let my daughter play there
