Facebook Users Slightly Favor Dickerson Over Carson

The popular Facebook site which allows its users to share information online through social networks the same way they do in the real world is taking the pulse of its users in the upcoming election. And in the race between Rep. Julia Carson (D) and Eric Dickerson, Facebook users slightly favor Dickerson over Carson by 49.77% to 48.86%. Libertarian Rick Hodgin gets 1.36%.

The unscientific Facebook poll also shows Democratic congressional challengers Brad Ellsworth and Baron Hill with large leads over the incumbents they are opposing, Rep. John Hostettler (R) and Rep. Mike Sodrel (R), respectively. It's worth noting that all recent scientific polls taken in those races have shown Ellsworth and Hill with significant leads. The Facebook poll shows Rep. Chris Chocola with a slight lead in his race, while recent scientific polls show his Democratic opponent Joe Donnelly leading the race.

Interestingly, when the poll first started Carson was leading Dickerson 58% to 42%. Over the last 2-3 weeks after Carson falsely accused Dickerson of "beating up his wife to a pulp", Dickerson erased Carson's lead and now is ahead.

Facebook launched in February 2004, and the website now has over 10 million registered users across over 40,000 regional, work, college and high school networks. According to comScore, Facebook is the seventh-most trafficked site on the web and is the number one photo-sharing site. Facebook is a private company located in Palo Alto, California. They prepopulated 1600 candidates. They allow the members of facebook to pick any candidate they want to support.

Great post. The only real problem is, Facebook's demographics mirror the under-28 age group, which, unfortunately votes at an alarmingly low rate.

And no poll, of any kind, has shown Donnelly behind in his district since June. Word has it the RCCC over the wekeend, in between discovering how to cover their Foley butts, quietly cut the races in which they'll invest Final 30 day money, and Chris C. was one of those left on the cutting room floor.

For two reasons: he's behind by eight or more points in their own internals, and he has millions of his own to bale out his hide if it can be won.

I hate to admit it, but those RCCC folks are ruthless, and usually right...their track record in 04 was nearly 100%.

And they have at least $150K of Foley's money in their coffers. If they had any sense at all, they'd jettison his money to some charitable cause PDQ.

After all, he's a drunk, dontcha know...

Are you serious? Is the situation for Dickerson so desperate that the best news you can find for him is a Facebook poll? Facebook users don't even vote! They're all 17 and talk about their cats or like how like cool like that guy in like Freshman English like is.

I did just hear that a Dem poll has Julia at 53.5, Dickerson at 41. Allegedly completed last Thursday. Pretty well-stratified, too.

That sounds about right.

That is, however, her lowest positive in along while. And certainly winnable for ED if he throws, oh, a couple hundred thouisand at some direct hitting ads.

The only poll that counts is on Election Day. Eric Dickerson will win by a close margin for Congress.

I just find it interesting how ever unscientific it may be - that those congress members in the "SAFE" Districts have 60 to 80% of the "Vote" but Carson has less than 50% ?

Arn't most college students assume to be demcorat and those few that do vote would vote democratic ?

Poor Eric is feeling the heat - at the Bloggers thing he came out swinging hard at our Congresslady Carson, saying nobody in Washington respects her, she cant get anything done, Indpls hasnt had a voice for 10 years now, etc. etc. etc.

He started off this summer saying he would say nothing negative against Ms. Carson - now he is crawling in his slime and mud - pitiful, simply pitiful!

Eric (partially) speaks the truth, Wilson.

We may love Julia, but she's ineffective in DC.

I think there are some in DC who respect her, and many who just wish she'd take the retirement she's richly earned.

He won't have the money or the time to make a dent in the margin, though.

How can anyone in congress respect her when she told WTHR
"I don't know that it makes him unfit, because there are others who serve in Congress," said Carson (D-IN07)."

That is the kind of support I want from a fellow congresslady.

If commenting on how he feels how well of job she has done is mud and slime - then your definition is far different than mine.

Wilson... Please... you must have cajones the size of ostrich eggs to wag your finger at Eric for that light display of negativity, after spending the last - how many years? - doing Julia's dumpster diving for her...

Sir, have you no shame?

A MEN 6:26. A MEN

And elsewhere Wilson complains that ED was negative at today's public forum.

Ahhhh-hem, uh, Wilson? Your candidate DID NOT SHOW. ED was there.

Is the air that thin where you are?

Ms. Carson was at the funeral of a longtime friend, Wayne Watson - for her, friendship trumps mere politics ...

When will she find the time to debate Eric? The voters deserve to hear from her, specifically, on why she should remain in office.

When is the debate Wilson? Or will you figure out a way to get out of this too?

Congresslady Carson has a variety of ways of reaching voters, like she has done for years. She doesnt have to rush around everywhere at the last minute campaigning. Hollering for multiple debates is always the tactic of horribly-behind, underfunded campaigns - Dickerson's is no exception.

Jocelyn, not enough people ever voted for you. That's why you are known as a perennial candidate and a perennial loser.

Why the constant hiding behind ever-shifting pseudonyms?

But according to Wilson hiding from the people in the district is a great way to ran a congressional race. If Julia does make it out in public, everyone will know that she has no business doing the people's work.

I hear to Marion County GOP took a poll, however, they are refusing to share it. Of course that means Eric is doing well.

maybe its coz the Marion County GOP considers the pitiful Dickerson campaign a drag on their main effort to elect Brizzi?
