Tax Rebate Checks Are In The Mail

Those tax rebate checks which Marion County taxpayers have been anxiously awaiting for almost a year are finally being put in the mail. Marion County Auditor Billie Breaux says homeowners should receive their rebate checks in the mail by July 7. She is sending out 213,000 checks totalling $46 million. The average size of the rebate checks is $216. That won't be enough to cover the increase taxpayers experienced in their 2007 tax bills, the third installment of which is due this month.
