Prosecutor Botches Case; Gibson Walks

On a day that began with a story in today's paper about how a Marion County deputy prosecutor dropped disorderly conduct and trespassing charges against a 20-year-old man after he agreed to drop and perform 50 push-ups in court, you couldn't help but think our prosecutor's office has become something of a laughing stock as of late. So it should have come as no surprise that a special prosecutor appointed by Brizzi's office would decide more than 14 months after he first initiated charges against Councilor Ron Gibson (D) that he didn't have enough evidence to convict him, leading him to a decision to drop the charges. The prosecutor only last week deposed two key eyewitnesses in the case, which was set for trial next week. Can it get any worse? Now we know what to expect of any investigations of Monroe Gray, Carl Drummer, the county coroner's office and Mayor Bart Peterson. Nada.

If our criminal justice system has completely broken down in Marion County, our civil justice system seems to be performing as expected. An arbitrator has ordered Councilor Monroe Gray's concrete company, Mid-Region Concrete, to pay nearly $600,000 to Trotter Construction for substandard work on three government projects. Government projects I might add which Gray failed to disclose on his statement of economic interest, but let's not bother our prosecutor with those matters.

Obviously, the Grand Old Party, Carl Brizzi, and other major Republicans are all under the spell of the democrats for some reason.

Evidently someone got some really great photos or tapes.

Obviously, someone got something good on the Republicans.

So now, they just roll over.

Marion County is dead!

I sent this to Mr Brizzi through the citys website. Just FYI!

"With the recent revalations with the City County Council, the corruption running wild in our city government, with the case in which a defendant was given push ups in a court case, the lack of leadership from you Mr Brizzi, has led me to this point. As a county resident, a Republican, a man who cast a vote for you, I am asking that you resign your position. Your do nothing reign as prosecutor in the face of obvious corruption must end. I no longer have any confidence in your ability to act in the best interests of the citizens of our once great city. Mr Brizzi, while doing nothing in the face of such great injustice, you are acting as an accessory."

don't ya just love the Brizz?

Is Brizzi too busy with his bar and girlfriends and hanging out with Tim Durham and divorce drama to, you know, do his freaking job? Or is did he really make a deal with the devil (as in the ghetto mafia)?

What do people have on this guy anyway?

Apparently some of you don't understand the concept of a special prosecutor. He is totally independent of the elected prosecutor and calls his own shots. To somehow blame Carl Brizzi for the performance of a special prosecutor from another county is totally off base. It's been my experience that special prosecutors that are brought in due to a local prosecutor's conflict often give the case they are appointed to handle short shrift. Think about it: they are from outside the county so they have no real stake in the outcome and they find themselves being required to travel back and forth from their regular county to attend hearings, depositions, etc. All while their regular duties back home are being neglected. It's no wonder that a person that finds himself in the position of special prosecutor would only want to spend several days of his life in a jury trial miles from home if he has a dead-bang winner. Since the Gipson case is clearly a he said/she said/they said pissing match it does not qualify as a dead-bang winner, altho it appears to be a winnable case. The bigger question is why did the special prosecutor file the charges in the first place if he didn't think it was a winnable case? It's not like there wasn't plenty of time to investigate the matter prior to the filing of charges. What is different now than when the case was filed? To back down now is to basically say that I don't believe my own witnesses any more. Either that, or I didn't properly investigate this in the first place. Either one of those positions is a lame position to take.

I'm not one to uae the moniker of Ghetto Mafia like so many seem to do but I'm afraid I now know what the people who do are talking about. I just watched the TV news clips and the statements Gibson gave to the media. Next to him were Monroe Gray and other blacks, some wearing shades on a cloudy day. It struck me that there is some real serious corruption going on with one ethnic group completely above the law and now in complete control of Marion County.
Brizzi? What's there to say about Brizzi? Skeletons are rattling in that man's closet and from what I've researched on his buddy Timothy Durham our Prosecutor has some serious payback.
Only an investigation by the DOJ is going to bring and end to this madness before it gets any more out of control.
Seems that organized crime will continue to thrive along with the offshore operations everyone pretend don't exist.
Isle of Man sound familiar?

Can we have a recall election for prosecutor? Carl Brizzi is failing our city.

The Democrats must have some goods on Carl Brizzi. He has been sitting on his butt since elected and allowing The Ghetto Mafia and the other corrupt Democraps to steal the city blind.

What's up Carl, it seems you have lied to all of the people who trusted you with their vote to clean up this city?

Special Pros is a DEM!!

I hope the voters have the balls to oust drunken Ron Gibson since Brizzi is scared of him.....maybe they have something on each other.

I'm curious, was this police officer that accused Gibson white or black?

hey advance indiana, do you think trustee hobbs will get the same treatment as everyone else, or do you think Brizzi will set hobbs out to be the example?

Are you telling me this special prosecutor didn't obtain this indictment through a grand jury proceeding where witnesses testimony was locked in? How could two eyewitnesses to the alleged crime not be deposed until one week before trial. First, the orginal charges were thrown out because they couldn't find the paperwork appointing the special prosecutor. Months go by before he refiles the charges. Months more pass by and then Haith demands a speedy trial and the special prosecutor isn't prepared for trial? Yep, I would call that a botched case alright.

Trotter should be happy. At least he knows how much Gray has in terms of cash. Hopefully he can go for garnishments?

In reference to the officer that was involved. Were they black or white? Not that it should matter, but they were Europoen American

Did Gray's company have any thing to do with the shoddy work of replacing the concerete apron in front of IFD Station 13?

Ron may have dodged this pit.

But he's cruising for another crash. And I chose that verb especially for this case.

No one can live a lie this long and escape a crash. Sadly, it will happen. Probably not before the election, but it will happen.

Check out his city-webpage bio. It sounds as if he's a minister. It's pathetic.

Believe it or not, Ron, there are thousands of adult males who've been through what you're going through. You are not alone.

So quit acting like a punk and get right with yourself.

Question: what happened to the officer who was assaulted?
