Carson Uncertainty Continues

The latest news reports offer the public little information about U.S. Rep. Julia Carson's current health condition. Local news reports were all saying the same thing, which was next to nothing nearly two weeks after Carson was first hospitalized with a reported leg infection. "Chad Chitwood, Carson's press secretary, said he believed she was discharged and taken to a rehabilitation center on Monday, but he could not immediately confirm that date," WTHR reports. "He also could not say what condition she was in, but said, 'She was doing well when I talked to her last.'" "He said that was last Friday." Either Chitwood has no idea what her present condition is, or he is simply hiding the truth from the public. Take your pick.

UPDATE: The Star is editorializing against U.S. Rep. Julia Carson seeking another term in Congress because of her declining health. "National publications have begun to notice that Carson is having difficulty performing her duties. According to a report last month in The Hill, one of Carson's aides, along with a fellow member of Congress, cast votes on her behalf. House rules ban such activity." "Carson has one more year to serve in her current term. For the good of the people she represents, and for the city she has served for decades, Carson should not seek another term in office." Hint to Carson campaign: The Star isn't going to make the stupid mistake of endorsing you again like it did last year.

Our "Fool on Capitol Hill" needs to resign in total disgrace immediately!

Her people sounded like idiots today on the news. How can her press secretary have "no knowledge of her condition." (That's how he was quoted all over reports today.)

It's so sad that she apparently feels so entitled to this job that she won't do what's right for her constituents and just resign.

Last year this blog and Eric Miller were desperately supporting Congresslady Carsons opponent but he lost. Now this blog is concerned she isn't off in Washington not voting the GOP party line? You'd think Eric Miller and this blog would be ecstatic about having one less progressive voice and vote in Congress if only temporarily...

On the other hand, the majority of voters in this District will be happy when Ms. Carson recovers and can continue to vote against George W Bush and his cockamamie schemes, scams and wars!

If she were a CEO, the Board would send a doctor to immediately get a full update on her condition. If they were publicly-traded, they'd release limited but accurate information about her condition.

Evidently we, as stockholders, don't have many rights.

She is greedily holding onto power. It's not like the House needs the one Democratic vote for control by her party, as in the Senate.

I've always admired Julia's steadfast adherence to her principles and her views. Like her or loathe here, she is strong.

But now she's just being silly. And we're unrepresented.

She would demand a higher standard for her elected reopresentative. We deserve better than this self-serving drivel that passes for "briefings" on her condition. I don't need to know everything, and certain aspects of her condition are private. But a basic report is demanded.

And the media here, evidenced by Tully's mea-cupla ass kissing yesterday, is incapable of asking the tough questions or rooting around for facts.

Spoon-fed media. Ridiculous.

I mentioend all this to a Miami friend today. He asked two questions: why is her office getting off withi these skimpy reports? And: where is the media?

In any medium-large media market, this crap would not be tolerated.

Stop, Wilson...

Better have people think you a fool, than type those words and remove all doubt.

She should resign due to failing health. Live t7he rest of her years telling the Ghetto Mafia how to do things

The voters want representation. We are not getting any definitive indication from her staff so far that is the case. When they have not talked to her in 4 days that does not inspire me with a lot of confidence.

Wilson, I know you and I don't agree on a lot of things. Let me say for the record....I have nothing personally against Julia and believe she has done a lot, but I think she should resign and call it quits. She has done a lot and deserves to retire and move on. You Wilson E Allen just need to accept that and speak the truth. Again, nothing personal just business

Wilson is banned from this blog!!!!!!!

BLOG ALERT: Wilson is Trespassing thru the tulips again!

One thing is certain: Julia Carson is a worthless old hag & Indianapolis is better off without her on Capitol Hill embarrassing us!

2008 vote Julia Carson out if her name is one the ballot!

I think she should resign, too, but isn't the name calling getting a bit overboard? She hasn't earned my vote but she certainy hasn't earned the kind of vitriol in some of these posts.

A Marion County Superior Court judge has ordered a company owned by City-County Council President Monroe Gray to pay $43,514 in unpaid bills, reports The Indianapolis Business Journal. The judgment resulted from a suit filed against Mid Regional Concrete Inc. by Charlotte, N.C.-based Sunbelt Rentals, formerly NationsRent Inc. Gray could not be reached for comment. The decision is the latest in a long string of business troubles for Gray, a Democrat. Yesterday, the Republican who is vying for Gray’s council seat, Kurt Webber, charged that Gray is in a conflict of interest by holding the seat and working for the Indianapolis Fire Department. Webber’s challenge followed an Indianapolis Star story showing that few records exist to document Gray’s work within the fire department.

Why does the blogmaster here permit the vicious little homophobe Jocelyn Tandy to post total irrelevancies like the outburst at 7:57pm? She is now trying to run this blog and distract discussion off into her personal feuds...

Well, that's the thing, Wilson - she DID win. That means, if you hadn't noticed, she was elected to do a job. When you win elections, you get everything that goes with it, including the responsibility to do the work.

And it's just not getting done.

And the work was not to your and Eric Millers satisfaction either so why the complaining now?
From your political perspective it's better she not vote at all.

Nevertheless, the majority of voters that did vote for her want her back as soon as possible to continue voting for peace and progress. We wish her well - the haters call her an old hag. Telling, isn't it?

Why can people not disagree with Julia Carson without stooping to personal insults about her integrity, her personal appearance or her family. If you disagree on an issue that is fine but these personal attacks are getting old, are unchristian and are in very poor taste.

Whether I agree with her, or whether her work was up to my satisfaction (and don't dare lump me in with Eric Miller, thank you), is immaterial. The work isn't getting done now.

If she's there, I might disagree with her, but at least she'd be on duty. But her health problems continue - and while you might like to sweep them under the rug, that is clearly not fair to the citizens of the 7th District. And, I might add, it's not fair to Congresswoman Carson, either, who really should choose to focus on her own health and move on.

And, you'll notice, Wilson, I haven't called her anything but Congresswoman Carson in my many posts. So if you want to go after others for calling her names, you cannot include me in that group.

Wilson's sweeping and inaccurate accusations aside...Miss Carson has richly earned her retirement.

What strikes me in the Carson camp's defense of their lady, is the hypocracy. If she were a challenger to an incumbent Member of Congress, and this kind of absenteeism were evident, they'd hit it from every angle. I doubt they'd be polite.

For the record, I never read that Gary banned Wilson. Continuing to repeat it doesn't make it true. Get a life already. That ridiculous rant is no more credible than the subject of your ire.

Civility is required here, and the subject is a person's health and ability to serve. God bless Julia's life, and bring her health.

God help us, who need her vote in Congress.

Time to go, Julia. Way past time, in fact.

Let's look at the facts we do know.
1. She was admitted with a serious deep infection in her leg.
2. She is diabetic.
3. She spent 1 week in the hospital and is now at a rehab facility.

I don't know what the rest of you may think, but to me this would seem to point to a possible amputation.

"I don't know what the rest of you may think, but to me this would seem to point to a possible amputation."

My father had very similar problems and he ended up having 4 amputations on his right leg with the last one ending up above his knee.

The above thought has crossed my mind. With the lack of information from her staff all that we can do is speculate.

It is interesting how other politicians recently have come out front with their medical problems.

Wilson is merely a patsy who is also a constant obfuscation on anything The Democrat Machine does not find appealing. Ignore his rants...and don't let him change the thread, as that is his goal.

There's far too much dirty money at stake for Carson to step down right now. Only until a succesor is agreed upon by her "inner circle" will she agree to leave office.
It's about money, nothing more and nothing less.
Ask yourself, who in Carson's circle stand to lose the most money if she leaves?

After multiple posts on this subject, it finally hit me this morning...the reason Julia is holding on for dear life (literally).

Whether we like it or not, the following is true: the Center (mostly black) political establishment has felt shut out for decades. They believe certain offices, entities, etc., are "theirs" and because it's all they had for decades, they hold on while others attack. Sometimes they hold on too long.

It leads to an arrogance whose underlying cause is regretable. An outsider's view is always more skeptical, more protective. They believe they're still outsiders.

Well, welcome to Marion County 2007. Center's establishment is no longer "outsider." We have a Democratic two-term mayor who is trying to do a good job, and basically has...but his failure to clamp down on this nonsense has led to widespread shenanigans. Because the former "outsiders" are now "insiders", behaving boorishly, protecting every square inch or perceived or actual turf.

There is no other explanation for: Monroe Gray as president, a pitiful whoring of the permit process for 300 East, Monroe Gray holding two powerful jobs, King Ro foisting his incompetent wife on all of us and demanding his colleagues support her, Ron Gibson in trouble on multiple fronts and behaving like a punk (compensating?), an inner-city school system that is bleeding cash and is protected only because it was once the exclusive turf of these "outsiders"...do I need to go on?

It's a sad state of affairs. 2007 is not the year this mess will bring down Bart Peterson, which is a testimony to his strengths. But it will be soon, and some good people are going to get caught in the backwash.

I have no specific answers (no, the Bart Lies! crowd doesn't either...), but that doesn't make the observations less true.

Sad, really.

8:58, Precisely what is there left in Center for the newly crowned "insiders" other than pseudo patronage jobs? 99% of the money interest in Center is still controlled by the same old crownd that controlled it for decades.
In addition to that Center now has nearly 11,000 abandoned houses that are a direct result of over 160.000 people packing up and moving out of the old city limits since Unigov. IPS is down to a fraction of the students it had 20 years ago and for good reason.
WHAT THE HELL IS LEFT FOR THE "NEW INSIDERS"?
Compare Monroe Gray and Beurt SerVaas as CCC presidents and you'll know there is nothing left for the "outsiders now insiders".

Yes they will. The Star is THAT stupid.

Wilson46201 said...

Julia Carson won her many elections from 1972 to 2004 with the Star always endorsing her losing opponents. She was astonished and jokingly worried when finally the Star endorsed her in 2004. The 2006 Star endorsement was a tad tepid...

To be sure, she was grateful for that endorsement but it was hardly crucial for her continuing support from the voters.

Response: Because Julia has Wilson Allen monitoring all these blogs and maliciously attacking others on her behalf, that's why. So, it's as if SHE is making the comments because he is her representative. If you don't like it, tell her representataive, Wilson Allen to stop.

As far as I am concerning, Julia Carson and her representative encourages hate speech.
