22 Apply For Supreme Court Vacancy

The Judicial Nominating Commission issued a press release late this afternoon announcing that it had received applications from 22 individuals seeking to be appointed to the Supreme Court vacancy created by the retirement of Justice Frank Sullivan. Sixteen of the applicants are female. Most observers think that it would be highly unlikely that a woman would not be appointed this time around since the two most recent appointees were both men and there are no women currently on the Court. Several of the applicants applied for one of the two previous vacancies on the Court recently filled by Gov. Mitch Daniels. The Commission will announce its first round of interviews on July 6, 2012 and public interviews of those candidates will take place on July 17 and 18 at the Indiana State House. After the first round of interviews, the Commission will announce the semi-finalists, who will be interviewed on August 8th and 9th. At the conclusion of the second round of interviews, the Commission will announce the names of the three finalists it selects to send to Gov. Daniels for consideration. The entire list of applicants include the following:
  1. Hon. Cale J. Bradford, Indiana Court of Appeals
  2. Hon. Elaine B. Brown, Indiana Court of Appeals
  3. Hon. Marla K. Clark, Johnson Circuit Court, Juvenile Division
  4. Mr. Thomas M. Fisher, Indianapolis
  5. Ms. Alicia A. Gooden, Indianapolis
  6. Hon. Frances M. Gull, Allen Superior Court
  7. Mr. Lyle R. Hardman, Granger
  8. Ms. Carol Nemeth Joven, Indianapolis
  9. Ms. Julia Church Kozicki, Noblesville
  10. Ms. Abigail Lawless Kuzma, Indianapolis

One who was picked before the process started, and 21 who wanted to be on the press release.

Alicia Gooden?????????? Cough, cough, choke...and PUKE!

It is my own opinion that she is a Femi-Nazi who HATES men! Look at her record on the Marion County Circuit Court as the Magistrate of the Paternity Court, hearing all custody matters in the county. Does she pay attention to the professional social workers, or just HATE men?

Our Indiana Constitution states "That all people are created equal," I'd like to ask if she believes that.

If one HATES men, how can she be a Judge on our Supreme Court?

We need literate constructionists & oath takers, not arrogant interpreters.

Indy4u2C,

Judge Bradford's name is almost always associated with that terrible trial court decision that said two divorcing parents, who were in agreement that their child would be raised Wiccan, couldn't do so. Needless to say, that decision was reversed by the Court of Appeals.

Loretta Rush would be an excellent choice! As a CASA, I have appeared in her courtroom many times. She is a credit to her profession and would make an outstanding Supreme Court justice!!
