They Endorsed Ron Gibson?

If you're looking for a good laugh this morning, you have to check out the Star's endorsement of at-large city-county councilor candidate Ron Gibson. It starts out with "Ron Gibson has been smart, energetic and effective since taking office eight years ago." Is this the same guy who butchers the English language whenever he speaks, shows up drunk in public places and disrespects a police officer--a female police officer at that? But don't worry about that. As the Star's editors put it, "a special prosecutor dropped the charges." That would only be after a couple of key witnesses changed their testimony right before the case was scheduled to go to trial.

"A former executive director of the state charter schools association, he is building support for charters in the black community," the editors write. I suppose the operative word here is "former." The editors give Ron a little bitch slap for not standing up to Monroe Gray. "Gibson needs to stand up to the antics of council President Monroe Gray," they write. "By failing to publicly confront Gray on his disregard for ethical conduct, Gibson diminishes his own stellar work." Based on the scene at the city-county building where Gray and Gibson could be seen giving each other a big bear hug after the criminal charges against Gibson were dropped, I wouldn't count on that happening.

Folks, any one of the Republican at-large candidates--Ed Coleman, Michael Hegg, Barb Malone and Kent Smith--would make a better choice than Gibson. The Star only endorsed Smith at the expense of Lonnell "King Ro" Connelly (D). The GOP didn't help matters for itself when it made it clear it had thrown all but Smith to the curb in its determined effort to ensure Peterson is re-elected and Democrats remain in control of the council. For heaven's sake, don't listen to the Star on this one. Ron Gibson must go.

If you hadn't noticed, Mayor Bart Peterson is airing the first negative campaign ads this election year. Words are being lifted from the Star's endorsement of Peterson, which are both inaccurate and uninformed. Give the editors a big thanks for playing their part in spreading some more of Bart's lies this election year.

Of all Ron's faults--and there are many--two stick out.

One is his unabashed (and hypocritical) embrace of All Things Christian. I'm a believer, too, but he's pushing it via multiple avenues, and it's sad.

Secondly...this one is strange: he had to be pushed--HARD--to support the HRO. Think about that one.

As an added bonus, anyone who bitch slaps a cop, no pun intended, regardless of the reason, deserves the same in return.

urge all Republican AND Democratic candidates to call the American Legion, the Veterans for Foreign Wars and any veteran service group to condemn this blatant and false attack on Greg Ballard. I am a Democratic voting 8 year veteran of the Army, and I can guarantee that my allegiance and respect for my time in service vastly outweigh my same for my political party. Folks, I promise you that to obtain the rank of a LtCol, you have to have a documented and evaluated history of leadership performance for 4 previous ranks to get to 0-5. Ballard earned this, and served during the Gulf war which was a tremendous effort in managing the troops and their logistics.
This bullshit ad, more than anything else, finally made me realize that in terms of leadership, Peterson never earned his, rather he inherited a lot of money and has ducked the issues in Marion County when questioned, preferring to posture about problems he inherited. Some of THAT is true, but since his campaign bought and paid for this ad, he obviously believes it. Its also obvious he has no clue about the military and true leadership experience. You're right Gary, this ad has Gilroy written all over it, and I have no doubt that Peterson has jumped the shark.

Indyundercover is reporting that a Democrat Rally is planned for Saturday Morning at 9 AM.
I think that we should take our message right to their doorsteps.

I’m thinking early anti-tax rally of our own and support for those who have been fighting the high crime rate in Indy.

We haven’t won the election yet, lets keep fighting the good fight.

“From the Indy Chicken,

I can attend the Anti-Democrat Rally Saturday Morning, after all I'm the symbol for their party.

I'm thinking Tax protest signs, BART LIES! signs, VOTE GOP signs, Ballard for Mayor signs etc.
It's time for the crime hating low tax loving citizens to take back Indy.

Please join me.”

The first to sound the alarm when a fox gets in the chicken coop is the chickens themselves.

Don’t be “chicken” be a chicken and join the IndyChicken in this fight.

The Indy Star should be in the biz of reporting news without bias, not endorsing candidates. The time is now to start encouraging everyone we know to cancel subscriptions and purposely stop patronizing their advertisers.

Oh, Melyssa, sweet dear Melyssa...newspapers have been endorsing candidates for a century or more.

It's not new. The Pulliams did it for years, overtly and covertly. And they were monsters about it.

I'd be happy if they did more reporting. But I'm not holding my breath.

If Ron Gibson isn't, he sure as hell acts like it. Reminds me of Mr. Garrison from South Park before he came out of the closet.

Apparently the Star thinks Gibson is the best we can do as an At-Large CCC member. This "best we can do" attitude also applies to Gray, Conley, and Brown. The majority of the voters in this city have simply given up.

Why did I get a mailer from bart saying "Today, negative campaigners are on the attack. They are attacking Mayor Bart Peterson and trying to blame him for all of our problems."

HUH?? Bart went negative. Why the hypocritical ad? And what is he talking about?

"Today, negative campaigners are on the attack. They are attacking Mayor Bart Peterson and trying to blame him for all of our problems."

I called Dem HQ and asked for information on this comment. They took my name and number and agreed to call me back with the facts.
I'm awaiting a return call from Adam. I will post the results.

Is this some kind of code for "God hates gays" or "gays can't be good Christians"?

Ron Gibson does not show good Christian behavior. I dont know what his sexuality is nor do I care. I find him to be a very unpleasant person and cant imagine being his friend and cannot fathom any male or female being his lover. I think Ron Gibson is Ron Gibson's lover.
