Mitch Harper Running To Stop Corporate Welfare Schemes
Fort Wayne Republican mayoral hopeful Mitch Harper is seeking to unseat two-term Democratic incumbent Mayor Tom Henry, who loves corporate welfare as much as Mssrs. Ballard, Brainard, Cook, et al. In his first campaign ad to hit the airwaves, Harper, an avid runner, pledges to stop corporate welfare schemes if he's elected. If you're fed up in the Summit City like a lot of the rest of us in this state, you have an opportunity to implement real change in your city by electing Harper.

You'll turn against him within three days of his election.
Only if he gives me a reason.
Anon 7:34, we all gave Ballard every chance in the world. But he kept selling out conservative values and reneging on his campaign promises at every turn.
To Anon 7:34- The fact is Mr. Greg Ballard turned against all the Marion County voters who awarded him the Mayor's chair- and many of us attending that first night victory celebration believe it occurred then and there.
Gary (9:19) and Paul (4:11) are 100% correct. Those replies speak for all of us "grass roots" Marion County GOP who watched Greg Ballard sell out on every level possible. I know what a real Conservative is and Greg Ballard is no real Conservative. I can't believe I was suckered in by this guy, I just can't believe it! I thought he was in it for honest municipal governance but the string of pay-to-play deals and the financial and property rape of downtown Indianapolis assets offers me only one conclusion.
Greg Ballard proved himself to be dishonest and dishonorable. The damage he brought down on "the party" and this City will take decades to correct, if that's now even possible. How sad that Chuck Brewer publicly stated he considers himself to be, in effect, a Ballard third term. How very sad.
Mitch Harper was the state's youngest State Rep from back in the late 70's-early 80's. His family operated a funeral home and ambulance service in Allen County. I've known Mitch about 20 years and have always found him to be the most honest men with the highest integrity. He has done a great deal of work for the betterment of the residents of Allen County.
My only complaint I have with him is that he is not a Marion County resident running for Mayor. Indy could use a man of his character to clean up the mess that has overtaken the Mayor's Office since Hudnut left office.
Some learn in four, some learn in eight, some never learn.
"But he kept selling out conservative values"
Paul - I wonder if he ever HAD them in the first place, and put on the face to get us charged up to get him in. This of course in spite of the (in)actions of the now former county chairman.
Everyone who claimed to be somebody thought Peterson would cruise to a third term. What I wonder is - would Indy be any different if Peterson did get a third term in '07, besides the law firm getting awarded the city legal work?
