New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg Gives $25,000 To Kennedy

The campaign of Democratic mayoral candidate Melina Kennedy filed a supplemental large contribution report with the Marion Co. Election Board reporting a $25,000 campaign contribution from New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg. Bloomberg was originally elected mayor as a Republican but later became an Independent. Former Indianapolis Mayor Steve Goldsmith, a close Ballard advisor, served as a deputy mayor under Bloomberg until he was forced to resign after news reports out of Washington, D.C. reported Goldsmith's arrest for a domestic violence incident between he and his wife. Kennedy also reported raising $73,300 from other large contributors, bringing her single-day campaign cash haul to nearly $100,000. She reported raising $30,000 in additional funds in separate reports filed earlier this week. Mayor Greg Ballard's campaign committee filed two separate reports this week reporting large contributions totaling $30,000 this week.

I saw in the newspaper a letter to the editor this morning, that noted Bloomberg is behind the group "Mayors Against Illegal Guns". I looked the group up and Bloomberg and Boston's Menino are the two with photos in the "about us" section of their website.
