Burton, who has represented Central Indiana in Congress for the past 24 years, racked up the worst record for participation in roll call votes last year among the state's congressional delegation. Burton bothered showing up to vote only 89 percent of the time in 2006. Even Rep. Julia Carson, whose critics have lambasted her in recent years for missing work, checked in for 91 percent of the votes.
Burton has started the new year in similar fashion, missing 20 out of 73 House votes in January . . .
Why did Burton miss so many votes last month? He was playing golf.
Specifically, he was teeing it up at the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic in Palm Springs, Calif . . .
So here's the score: Burton would rather play golf than attend a hearing on Iraq. He shows up for work less often than a 20-year-old slacker who refuses to move out of his parents' basement. He has little shame when it comes to accepting expensive gifts. And he feels immune from voters' wrath because he's been handed a heavily gerrymandered district that might as well hang up "Democrats need not apply'' signs.
Sweet gig, Dan.
Just remember the good folks back home in Indiana when the pro-am season ends.
Isn't it time for Republicans in Burton's district to tell him to hang it up? Surely Hamilton County Republicans can find someone better.

Resign.
Hell hath no fury like Ryearson or Swarens scorned.
Oh Danny Boy, the pipes the pipes are callin, from hill and vale, and every heather hill...
For you to get the hell out of Dodge.
We haven't even mentioned his most-embarrassing trait, which is, as all DC knows, a famous penchant for the fairer gender.
But let's leave him alone. When he does show up, his votes are disasterous. Maybe he'll fade into oblivion and get defeated next May.
Congressman Steve Buyer missed much of this new session of Congress for medical reasons but he was allegedly seen down in Miami at the Super Bowl using a cane. Will he show up in Washington this week with his cane?
Heel, Wilson, Buyer can't even show up in Lafayette-- the largest city in his district and only 30 minutes form Monticello-- his supposed home.
For all the bitching about Carson-- and some is justified -- she does roll in now and then with help.
Hmm.. bad typing.. not Freudian slip-- hell....
If I were a 20-year-old living in my parents' basement, I might take some offense at even being COMPARED to Dan Burton.
LMAO 2:10...hilarious. Burton gives in-home louts a bad name.
Wilson, your lady is second only to Burton in non-excused absences, in 2006 and thus far this year, among the Indiana delegation.
Careful where you throw blame...
Too, too much. No, Hamilton County Republicans can't find anyone better to represent the biggest Republican value: ME FIRST!
How about Luke Kenley? A nice guy, wrong on most of the issue,s but hey, so are many other Repubs.
Or BBoz...if he lives in the district, which I think he does. (Actually, that's not required...)
It would get him out of the Statehouse, where he's dangerous, and into the minority in Congress, where he'd be invisible.
Just PLEASe don't mention Rep. Noe. That would be trading dumb for dumber.
