Pacers Meltdown Continues

The Star is reporting what it calls a "dust-up" between three Pacers players and a bar manager early Tuesday morning at 2:15.a.m. The players involved include Jamaal Tinsley, Marquis Daniels and Keith McLeod. According to a police report, the players struck the manager of 8 Second Saloon at 111 N. Lynhurst Drive. As described by Will Higgins:

According to a police report, the three were in the 8 Seconds Saloon, 111 N. Lynhurst Dr. at 2:15 a.m. when they got into a scrap with the bar's manager.

“(The bar manager) stated that Mr. Tinsley, with a closed fist, struck him on the left side of the head, knocking him to his knees. He stated Mr. Daniels and Mr. (Jeremy) King also began to use closed fists, striking him in the face.”

Both Tinsley and Daniels were involved in the Club Rio melee last October. McLeod just joined the team as a result of the trade with Golden State last month involving several players. The bar manager reportedly suffered a broken jaw and a severed ear lobe. The report says no arrests were made. Why not?

This is absurd. Throw them in jail! Why aren't the cops doing their jobs? Why anyone would follow this team is beyond me.

Thugz. Just like Granmama Julia and the Ghetto Mafia.

The cops probably are doing their job. They may have had a call placed to them which forced them to let the thugs...er Pacers go.

Don't you know that pro athletes in Indianapolis Sports Capitol of America are above the law!

1:53, there was no call for that.

It is not uncommon in some bar,/he-said-she-said type of incidents, to get full info from all participants, let them go and assign a detective. That is in the police officer's discretion, and often, if the officer has any doubt, (s)he is encouraged to radio a supervisor for direction.

Rarely, if ever, in such a call for supervisor, is the identity of the person(s) given. It's usually a close call, and it often involves the officer(s) time remaining on duty, workload overall, number of pending runs, etc.

A detective usually interviews participants and in a few days, as in the Rio incident, refers the case for charges or does nothing.

This orderly process was followed in the Club Rio case. Last night, it appears, from info available, that some of the participants were gone when IMPD arrived. All the more reason to assign a detective.

I'm done with the Pacers. They are obviously a ship gone awry.

A few hours earlier, the same team rolled over on a weak Warriors team and lost by a ton. Stephen freaking Jackson had almost 40 points. Pacer defense, and effort, were AWOL, I was there. It was pitiful by any measure.

They shouldn't have been celebrating. They should've been doing what Tony Dungy would've been doing at that time under similar circumstances: sleeping, praying, or, perhaps reviewing tapes.

This is your team Bird. Act like it. Your judgment is under serious question.
