BMV's Unqualified Political Hack CFO Demoted

The administration of Gov. Mike Pence continues its efforts to stop the bleeding at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles ("BMV") caused by years of questionable political hirings that began under the administration of former Gov. Mitch Daniels and that resulted in the agency illegally raising fees charged to Indiana motorists and being forced to refund tens of millions of dollars after a class action lawsuit was brought against the agency.

The Indianapolis Star says the BMV has demoted its top financial officer, Harold Day, and replaced him with Jeff Moon, a CPA who most recently served as chief financial officer at Adayana, a local management consulting firm.

Day, the husband of Perry Township Trustee Susie Day, possessed no college degree or any other qualification for the top job he held at the agency other than being a loyal foot soldier in the Republican Party with ties to people with the political pull to land him the job as BMV's CFO. Day was among top officials at the agency who were made aware the agency was illegally charging higher fees than set by statute but chose to ignore the issue when brought to their attention.

Did anyone ever figure out who murdered Roy Houchin, the badge-selling former Perry Township Constable.

They say Houchins died of natural causes so there was no investigation.

I dealt with his wife when she was on the city council. I can't speak for Mr. Day, but no one would ever confuse his wife for being a member of Mensa

Anon 12:53 reminds me that Mr. Day worked for City Councilor Jack Sandlin for the 8 years he was Perry Township Trustee. Perry Township clearly is the epicenter of GOP political corruption. Their bad apples keep showing up.

Just maybe Donald Trump has the right idea when he stated he was funding his own campaign, so he'll owe no one any favors

When Harold Day was the Chief Financial Officer at Perry Township, I regularly worked with him for several years when I was the agent for their employee benefits. I found him to be competent, professional, and he appeared to be honest in all of his dealings with me. I am unaware of any contrary findings by the Indiana State Board of Accounts.

He was criticized for maintaining BMV accounts with multi-million dollar balances in non-interest bearing accounts.

Did you watch the video of his deposition, Greg? He's a dunce.

Anon 5:48, Harold Day was probably told where to leave the money. It is a long standing practice of politicians to leave funds in the banks of political donors. That is why bankers donate to political races Harold is still an employee at the BMV because he was loyal. Both parties have been leaving taxpayer money in bank accounts paying no interest since Indiana went bankrupt in the Great Canal Scandal. Harold may have sounded slow in the interview; but, he is not stupid. He did what he was told and I would be surprised if he did anything illegal. You should be asking about the bank and who benefited. Why aren't you following that money trail? Maybe you are the dunce.

Harold Day should not only be fired but probably investigated as well! Of course if Pence had just fired every Daniels holdover when he took office a lot of this nonsense could have been mitigated!
