Former Greensburg Police Chief Arrested For Stealing Nearly $73,000
A Greensburg police chief who abruptly resigned her position last November has been arrested on charges she stole nearly $73,000 in cash from the department's evidence room according to WISH-TV. Stacey Chasteen faces charges of theft and official misconduct. The money allegedly stolen by Chasteen from the evidence room was seized during a raid of an illegal massage parlor.
State Police investigators say Chasteen's husband said his wife had a gambling addiction and was borrowing money from family members to try to pay back the money she had taken from the police evidence room. Chasteen allegedly began stealing money back in 2006 and stopped some time during 2013. The Decatur County prosecutor's office expects more charges against other persons involved in the case according to the report.
