Lake County Sheriff's Deputy Arrested For Drunk Driving Causing Crash, Registered Three Times Legal Limit
A Lake County Sheriff's deputy, David Britton, was arrested for drunk driving after a pick-up truck he was driving struck two other vehicles on a snow and ice-covered road. Britton reportedly then fled the scene of the accident in his vehicle after getting out of his pick-up to check on both vehicles he struck. A witness gave police a description of Britton's vehicle, which police found blocks away in a Walgreen's parking lot. Police say Britton's voice was slurred, and he smelled of alcohol. A portable breath test registered an alcohol level of .24, three times the legal limit. According to The Northwest Times, Britton has been with the sheriff's department since 1996. He was formerly commander of the drug interdiction unit.
