Former Greensburg Police Chief Arrested For Stealing Nearly $73,000

A Greensburg police chief who abruptly resigned her position last November has been arrested on charges she stole nearly $73,000 in cash from the department's evidence room according to WISH-TV. Stacey Chasteen faces charges of theft and official misconduct. The money allegedly stolen by Chasteen from the evidence room was seized during a raid of an illegal massage parlor.

State Police investigators say Chasteen's husband said his wife had a gambling addiction and was borrowing money from family members to try to pay back the money she had taken from the police evidence room. Chasteen allegedly began stealing money back in 2006 and stopped some time during 2013. The Decatur County prosecutor's office expects more charges against other persons involved in the case according to the report.

Disgraceful!

This will only get worse since the state has no money to conduct annual audits.

The State chooses to not prosecute and conduct audits. Why...pay to play. Remember Zionsville? Many of us still haven't forgotten that deal and how folks walked without consequences such as real jail time. Wonder if the Prosecutor and Boone County Sheriff Campbell knew as well. Let's hope justice is served and these dramas and cover ups end.

Liberty Mutual Insurance signed over car titles to Zville cops from murder scenes and more. Why wasn't this addressed by Prosecutor of Boone Co. and Sheriff and officers at the time of transfers. Ponder it all.
