Indy Home Sales Turn The Corner?

The Star's Jeff Swiatek cites home sales numbers for the Indianapolis area for the month of September showing an increase in the number of sales for the first time this year over the previous year's sales numbers. September sales numbers were up 5.2% from a year ago, but the average sales price fell 5% from a year ago. The number of homes listed for sale fell by 8.6%. These statistics were compiled by Landrigan & Co. Realtors.

Let's all hope. I think whether you are conservative or liberal we want this housing market to start climbing again. I hope we've hit the bottom and that these gains continue.

Why do we want the housing market to climb _again_? Do we really want a 1,300 sq. ft. home to go for $200K+? What about a 2,000 sq. ft. home, $400K+? If the entire "American Dream" is home ownership, home costs shouldn't be that much.
