Glenn Murphy, Jr. Charged In Sex Case

A young man described as a rising star in the Republican Party by both Gov. Mitch Daniels and Secretary of State Todd Rokita as recently as a few months ago, is now facing formal charges against him for criminal sexual deviate conduct, a Class B felony. Glenn Murphy, Jr. is accused of performing oral sex on a 22-year-old man while the man slept. The two had stayed over at the Jeffersonville home of the victim's sister following a Young Republican Party on July 28.

Murphy had just weeks earlier been elected president of the National Young Republican Federation. Murphy resigned as the YR's national president and also as Clark Co. GOP chairman at the time the victim filed a formal complaint with Jeffersonville police. Murphy had been a close advisor to former U.S. Rep. Mike Sodrel (R), who is running a fourth time against U.S. Rep. Baron Hill (D) to win back the 9th District seat he held for one term until last year. The 33-year-old Murphy is facing 6-20 years in prison if he is found guilty of the charges.

Ya, why don't you just lump all of the Republicans together. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

Good idea! Let him who is without sin cast the next Constitutional Amendment against Gay Marriage!

That's really funny. Democrats BRAG about such conduct, but when a Republican is accused of it, they all scream "hang him, hang him."

Talk about double standards.

When it's sex between consenting adults, why not? The problem for Murphy is that it was non-consensual which is why it's illegal.

How'd you like some perv to sneak up on your mother and feel her up while she's asleep? Still so glib and jocular, Mr. Anonymous Republican at 5:43pm?

Gary, please delete the obviously libelous above comment. It looks like the smearmongers are out trying to post lies again. Some homophobes just assume all gay men cruise bathrooms...

It'd also be interesting detective work for you to check the IP address of the libelous comment with the IP addresses of some of the more frequent commenters here ... it's likely it's somebody who lives in the Far Eastside!

Democrats advocate for gay rights not for the rights of perverts, child molestors and those who impose sexual acts on people like the the sexual deviate, Glenn Murphy.

Gary, we dont agree on 90% of the political issues discussed here even though I understand that we are neighbors. I do want to say that I highly respect your decision to delete two earlier comments posted that were malicious and mean spirited. No one deserves to be talked about that way in a public forum. Thank you for your integrity.

This coming from a guy who demands that people be found guilty buy a judge or jury before folks claim they are corrupt and involved in criminal acts. Wow. Sound like your "Innocent till proven guilty" idea only applies to Democrats. Nice.

We are all forgetting about this 22 year old guy who is still suffering today. Glenn Murphy has ruined his life. Democrat, republican, I don't give a damn. This man is a perv and should be behind bars. He can give all the oral sex he wants in there. I personaly want to say I'm sorry to the man that this happened to.
