The official portrait of Gov. Mitch Daniels painted by Lafayette artist Richard Halstead was unveiled at the State House. What do you think?

I think he looks like a nitwit! So that being said I think the artists captures his true apperance quite well! Why my fellow Indiana Republicans are dumb enough to worship him they way they used to worship Lugar and Bullen is beyond me!

Just in time for Halloween! It's a nice painting in terms of technique, but it doesn't really look like Mitch Daniels. The hair is off (there's way too much of it) and he doesn't (and hasn't) looked that way in his face at all during his term. Since his face has adorned the various state websites and agencies with his picture EVERYWHERE like he was Chairman Mao or Stalin, I think many people are used to seeing his picture -- and this painting ain't it.

Commissioned portraitists always flatter the subject. It's the business. That said, and like the Governor or not, I think it catches the essence of the image the Governor cultivated for himself. And for that reason, I think the portrait is a success.
