Stutzman Wins Third District GOP Caucus

State Senator Marllin Stutzman won the nomination for the opportunity to succeed disgraced U.S. Rep. Mark Souder, who resigned his seat in Congress recently after his extramarital affair with a staffer became public, at a caucus of GOP precinct committteepersons in Indiana's Third congressional district today. Stutzman easily won the nomination on the second ballot over a crowded field of opponents. A special election to fill the remainder of Souder's term will be held on the same day as this year's general election in November when Stutzman will face Democrat Tom Hayhurst. Stutzman also won the right to run for a full two-year term in the November election
