Does The Rule Of Law Still Exist In America?

Supposedly, the United States is a nation of laws, not men. At least that's one of the founding principles upon which the U.S. Constitution is based. As we celebrate Independence Day, which our largely uneducated population knows only as that fourth day in July that's just another national holiday they don't have to work, deep-thinking Americans should be asking themselves whether the rule of law still even exists in this country.

President Barack Obama, who probably lacked the constitutional qualifications to be president, something we really can't answer since his true origins remain as unknown today as the day we first heard his name, this week issued an edict that a key portion of a federal law he got enacted into law by hook or crook, pick your poison, would not become law until after the next general election. The federal mandate under the Affordable Care Act that requires all employers with 50 or more employees to provide a basic plan of health insurance for their employees or face penalties starting next year will not be enforced for at least another year according to King Obama. Never mind the enormous pressure his administration placed on the Supreme Court to uphold the constitutionality of the questionable act. King Obama made a calculated decision that enforcing that part of the law would become a political albatross around the necks of members of his political party in the midterm elections so he simply issued an edict decreeing that part of the law unenforceable until at least 2015 despite the law's express mandate that he enforce that part of the law starting on January 1, 2014.

Even before this week's edict, King Obama had granted waivers from what was supposed to be mandatory participation to businesses and labor organizations with special access to the White House because of generous campaign contributions they  made to the Almighty. I'm not sure what the final tally of waivers is today, but according to a report 18 months ago, King Obama had granted over 1,200 waivers from portions of the ACA that affected about four million workers, justifying them on the basis that they supposedly showed the law's "flexibility."

Individuals won't be given any breaks. If you are self-employed or work for an employer that doesn't offer health insurance, you have no choice but to either purchase a basic plan of health insurance or pay a penalty to the government. Several major health insurers are dropping health insurance offerings to individuals because they've deemed the expanded pool of individuals who will be seeking health insurance coverage too risky to insure, resulting in fewer choices for individuals. Those who have individual health insurances are being warned to expect large increases in health insurance premiums next year when the law takes effect, despite assurances by King Obama that the new law would actually reduce, not increase the cost of obtaining health insurance. Most individuals had already been experiencing double-digit rate increases in their premiums yearly, a problem only exacerbated by the passage of the ACA.

Unfortunately, the absence of the rule of law is not confined to enforcement of the ACA. It pervades the enforcement of the Internal Revenue Code, environmental regulations and immigration enforcement to name just a few. The founding fathers could not have conceived the U.S. Constitution that they took such great care to draft would become so warped and crooked through creative interpretations, selective enforcement and amendment by omission. As a consequence, the government seems now only to exist for the benefit of a ruling elite who are resting on the shoulders of the growing masses. All Americans should pause today and re-read the Declaration of Independence, or read it for the first time as the case most likely is, in particular these words:
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.
UPDATE: King Obama is outdoing himself this week. Under the federal law providing foreign aid to Egypt, he is prohibited from continuing aid to a country where the democratically-elected leader is toppled by coup. Despite the undisputed fact that President Mohammed Morsi, the Muslim Brotherhood CIA stooge born in America, has been removed from power and placed under house arrest by the military, Obama has decided he won't view the latest developments to be a military coup. Yet another law that can simply be ignored when enforcing it is deemed inconvenient by the government.

The lawyers of the U.S. need to start suing the Federal government for all their transgressions which are many. They are ignoring we the people and are not following law or the constitution. So it is time for all you lawyers to start filing lawsuits over their misdeeds of which there are many. They threaten us daily -time to fight back. It seems that is our only recourse-beg the lawyers to step up.

I would hope so, but given that the Supreme Court continues to support government overreach, it looks kind of dark right now (meaning the dark as in the phrase darkest before the dawn).

I am sure their was Cronyism back during the founding of our country. However, the scale of Cronyism and Corruption will take your breath away today if you look very far.

Our Presidents since LBJ are given a blank check to fight wars all over the world even though no War is declared by Congress. The US has either sent the troops in or been a participant in over throwing Governments in Latin America.

Morsi is interesting. I heard an Egyptian "Expert" on one the talking heads News Networks. He mentioned that US Military has had close ties and maintains close ties with the Egyptian Military. The Egyptian Military receives billions in Military aide per year. Thus, it is altogether probable that OK for Morsi's overthrow came from Washington. Obama's muted response to the Coup would seem to confirm this.

I would add one more point we have our Eric Holder basically giving to the Too Big to Fail Financial a pass of Too Big to Jail.
