Indiana's Political Class Tells Politico Their Plan To Defeat Trump

A collection of the usual suspects from the political class in Indiana assures Politico that Trump is not going to have delegates who will support him in a contested race at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland this summer regardless of how Hoosier Republicans cast their votes in next month's primary. State Republican leaders who will determine who becomes a delegate to the national convention are almost all lobbyists, political consultants, government contractors and the general sort that are self-identified Republicans for personal self-interest as opposed to ideological inclinations. It's why many of us have already or are planning to leave the Republican Party.

Unlike my native state of Illinois, Indiana does not allow presidential candidates' campaigns to pick their own delegate candidates; rather, they are only technically bound to support the candidate who carries the congressional district from which they were chosen or according to the statewide vote, in the case of at-large delegates.  These political insiders are gleefully boasting that they have already laid the groundwork to put the screws to Trump regardless of the outcome of next month's primary election because of this rigged insider process for selecting delegates. That's not necessarily good news for Ted Cruz either because none of these people like him either. Trump's campaign chairman, Rex Early, says he's not too worried, but he should be if you accept the fact that Trump won't have enough delegates to win the nomination when he arrives in Cleveland, regardless of what his newly-hired political consultant/delegate manager, Paul Manafort, is claiming.

Sad. Yet another reason to be ashamed of Indiana. Embarrassed by the Governor. And nauseated by the Republican leadership. It will make national news, of course. They already talk about us like we're Mississippi because of this terrible Governor. Now we have this horrible abortion law AND renegade delegates. What next?

Anon 10:41, I'd be more ashamed of Indiana if we supported faux conservative Donald Trump. I doubt that Trump can win Indiana anyway, so the fact that the delegate selection process will be stacked against him is likely to be a moot issue.

So you won't be complaining, Paul, if Ted Cruz carries Indiana and winds up with virtually no delegates from the state supporting him for the nomination?

Once Ryan's gavel strikes, and the GOP convention begins, all the worthless primary votes go away. What else is to be expected from a party utilizing voter suppression on a national scale?

Paul & Gary, Grow up!

Rank-and-file voters lost control of the process years ago.

The game is owned by the Donor Class that control both parties starting at the precinct level. The donors are puppet masters. The party officials are puppets. The voters are there only to give the appearance of legitimacy.

Don't fight boys. Do not get upset about Trump or Cruz -- neither will win. The donors cannot let them win even if it causes either party to be destroyed.

Our elections are about as free as the elections in Iran.

Okay upon reading that TJ is in the mix, I threw up in my mouth a little.

I guess money talks and bullsh!t walks when the 7th District at-large delegates are Jennifer Ping (who works with and for Democrats), Jefferson Shreve - the Democrat turned RINO, and Pat Miller.

Though I had to bust out laughing when Pat Miller was called by Politico on who she was supporting in the convention "Tom Selleck!!" *CLICK* thing is I can just see her doing just that...

I knew something was up when I read the words "Draft Daniels" in the linked article.

"What else is to be expected from a party utilizing voter suppression on a national scale?"

And the party of voter fraud utilizes "Superdelgates" to wash away any of the alleged voters choices? Again - what's the difference?

Suppression is suppression regardless of the outcome, Paul Ogden. Shame on you for justifying the means to your end. You've turned into an autocrat, the very thing you've criticized others.

Its the lead story on Drudge now. This is not going to go away. Indiana is going to be the new face of the political reality that has become "your votes don't count." What's wrong with the Republicans that they can admit all this out in the open, without even fearing condemnation.

And Ogden, what's wrong with you? You don't support the concept of having your vote count? What makes you think people want a bunch of crooked Indiana politicians to vote their votes for them? You really gave up being a lawyer that stood for things a long time ago.

It's becoming a very easy analysis to find who votes for Trump.

Wherever you go in the country, the states with the most backbone, the people who put of the toughest fights, the people who don't take crap off others, the people most likely to raise their voice if they're getting taken advantage of are all the states that Trump wins.

The wimpier, weaker, frail, soft-spoken, hate-people-who-raise-their-voce, likely to accept something rather than make a scene, vote for candidates other than Trump.

Look at the election map of the country. The tough states go for Trump; the wimpier states go for other candidates.

The Republican party of Indiana better be walking on eggs shells, if they pull some Brandt Hershman antics with delegates, the party will be finished in this State.
It is already fragile with Pence and Young, it won't take too much to have this State a Democrat State. The machine is being watched very closely, they better listen to the will of the people, may they be Trump or Cruz supporters, they better be the supporter of the people.!!

this has all gotten so bizarre at least its fun to watch; what's with rex early leading trump's cause in our 'fair' state? seriously, he was out to pasture 20 years ago, i had no idea he was even still alive; what pull can he possibly have left? just freaking weird; i wish they could all lose.

No,voter fraud is a much bigger hoax than trying to pick one from the sixteen on the clown car. But don't worry the savior is on the way(no not Cruz)as GOP party bosses Trump the Tea Party and the establishment throws the no-I-do-not-want-to-run Ryan hat into the ring.

Many working people know that elections are controlled by the Donor Class. Even Da Star recognizes the unrest and growth of militia http://www.indystar.com/story/news/2016/04/09/well-regulated-inside-indiana-militia/82733502/ The Donor Class cannot keep the lid on it forever.

http://www.politico.com/story/2016/04/donald-trump-indiana-primary-221747 Just in case one didn't know what Gary was referring to. I think Rex will be talking at Tea Party North's (open to thinkers only....free will donations only) meeting Monday night. Every dirty trick in the R donor class playbook (and probably a few new ones) will be in evidence in this Indiana primary and continuing on to the Convention. What might not be so apparent is that even dirty trick in the D donor class will be in play as well but lots of folks won't see that. Newbies who wish to come up to speed could easily read thru A Choice not an Echo by the great Phyllis Schlafly We are already seeing the dirty tricks she spells out in a book that really first came out in 1964...the 50 year anniversary edition has a foreword by Ron Paul. Or, take in The Ruling Class by Angelo M. Codevilla who also informs of the bi partisan nature of the "ruling class".
Trump has not taken any money from the big donors and they hate it as it means he will not take their orders. Trump is saying what people want to hear. The Oligarchs are beside themselves with rage. Murder, is a tool in their kit bag I think it is safe to surmise. As part of my tin foil hat routine I ask folks who use CPAP machines if they have ever forgot to use them even when taking a nap. Sneering sorts can remember to ask around their circle of fat friends that question and then wonder why Judge Scalia's CPAP was not in operation even though it was set up and sitting beside his bed.....Often that is the first thing CPAP users do when traveling on the road....they set up the CPAP. Meanwhile, when the stakes climb so do the crooks rise up and if you want to view the whole show....the two books will be of prime usefulness.....you will actually be able to read, even the Star, and see copy cat criminals at work.....

"it won't take too much to have this State a Democrat State"

No. Just look to the west and you'll see the results of a state controlled from top to bottom by the Democrat party with one exception since January 2015. Can't pay their bills, taxes going up, schools threatening to close. Corrupt and dysfunctional to the core.

I do not believe that delegates who defraud Trump at the convention will have an assurance of their safety.

Trump is in the crosshairs like no one I've ever seen. There's only one possible explanation, and that is why I am voting for him. Paul Ogden, I have a question for you. You are aware, I presume, that Ronald Reagan voted FOR abortion and implemented the largest tax increase in Cali history while governor. Does that make him a faux conservative? Stop selling Trump short. He may not pass your litmus test but he can win. If he couldn't, they wouldn't be lined up against him. If he does, he just might surprise you. I always liked Reagan, but based on his track record prior to being elected president, I never dreamed he'd do as well as he did.

that's a very dangerous game you are playing, RINO's.

I've been scratching my head since Reagan left office about the Republican party, why did GHW. Bush throw the Reagan doctrine out the window? I just read an article from the American Spectator that explains everything about the ruling class within our Country, here is a link to it.
http://spectator.org/articles/39326/americas-ruling-class-and-perils-revolution.

I paid close attention to reference call the Country Class! which is my politics, this article explains why several years ago I wanted to be a delegate to the National convention and wasn't able too!
Now I get it.

8:17 is right. If we push the reset button and re-visit the Reagan years and what Reagan actually stood for, it sure wasn't this evangelical conservative nonsense. He was way left of Pence, way left of Cruz, much closer to what Trump believes. Its these bible wielding tea party type conservatives who are trying to hijack the party. The average guy in the street doesn't want this ultra right platform. Reagan was a conservative with broad support within his own State of California. The party jerking right is a mistake that won't hold. Trump is more representative of Reagan republicanism. The Indiana party will pay a price for withholding his delegates if he carries the vote here.

Abraham Lincoln never joined any church, and was a skeptic as a young man and sometimes ridiculed revivalists.

Reagan was a RINO that should have gone to prison over Iran Contra. Regardless, All Enemies.

Btw....anybody that feels the government needs more money........just check the box and donate to your hearts content. Step up and show us how it's done. Just think of how much better you will feel about puppies, kittens and flowers

You people use RINO too often. The Republican party has a lot of different voices. Personally I think its sad that the taliban wing thinks it belongs to them. To my mind your religious zealotry has nothing to do with being a Republican and is really annoying.

I can't stand to hear Ted Cruz speak. Like nails on a chalkboard. There's just something about him. I literally hate him the instant he starts talking. You guys who are planning to yank the nomination from Trump; does that mean we end up with Cruz? Because that would be too cruel.

Indiana's arrogance is actually helpful. The rest of the country finally gets a full display of how thoroughly results-oriented Indiana is.

Rules don;t matter here. Process doesn't matter. Law doesn't matter. All that matters is that the outcome occurs the way those in control want it to.

In a very real sense, Indiana is the most corrupt state in the country. "Corrupt" in that law does not govern here, outcomes do.

The citizen is disenfranchised in Indiana, and the citizen does not stand equally before the law. From the courts to the polling place, the individual comes well after the desires of the established interests.
