A recent book I came across, Donald Jeffries' Hidden History, tackles a conversation mainstream media won't permit to occur. Jeffries' book begins with a thorough look at the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Any American who hasn't been taught or refuses to accept that elements of our own government planned, executed and then covered up President Kennedy's assassination, are missing the Rosetta Stone for understanding contemporary American history. One could make a strong argument that without the Kennedy assassination, the Vietnam War, the King and RFK assassinations, Watergate, Iran-Contra, the first Gulf War, Oklahoma City Bombing, 9/11 and the War on Terrorism would have never come to fruition. These are all topics Jeffries tackles in his book, plus much more.
Imagine what America might be like today if our country had heeded President Dwight D. Eisenhower's warning about the creeping power of the military/industrial complex? In the introduction to his book, Jeffries paints a sobering picture of what America looks like today with staggeringly high, chronic unemployment in the double-digits hidden from the official government unemployment numbers, the loss of our manufacturing industries, growing income disparity, the declining health of our people as measured by key indicators like life expectancy and infant mortality despite spending far more on health care than any other country in the world, large prison populations, and young Americans drowning in student loan debt, all leaving one to wonder why our government resources are so poorly allocated among its people. I highly recommend the book to anyone who seeks the truth, not the spoon-fed lies we get from our government and mainstream media reporting Here's an interview InfoWars' Rob Dew did with Jeffries recently in which he discusses Hidden History.

As a Baby Boomer the History I learned in essence was America is always right. The numerous interventions in Latin America via American Military Muscle were not portrayed as enforcing America's Corporate Dictates. Rather we always trying to Bring Democracy to Latin America.
I have lived through the de- industrialization of America so through, you would think our own country had been bombed like Germany and Japan was in WW 2. I was drafted into the US Army and was sent to Vietnam.
This weekend there has been non stop documentaries on Cable about WW 2. You will not find a documentary about the life of Marine Corp General Smedley Butler. Butler realized later in life he was, as well as the Marine Corp the Enforcement Arm of Wall Street.
Amazing how many political assassinations there were in the 1960's: JFK, Malcolm X, MLK and RFK. The Lone Gunman was sold lock stock and barrel. We know through terrorist activities how susceptible people can be programmed to commit what amounts to suicide missions.
There are many deluded people who claim we have Freedom. Yes we do have some freedoms, but the freedoms revolve around choices we can make to buy a corporate product, most of which are not made in USA.
There has probably been more written and reported on Deflatgate in the Mega-Media than on the the Trans Pacific Partnership Scheme. John Boehner, Mitch McConnell and Obama are united in trying to push it through. These three creatures or stooges are Three Corporate Sell Outs.
Incredibly, this is a secret deal - The public criticisms of the TPP have been vague. That’s by design—anyone who has read the text of the agreement could be jailed for disclosing its contents.

So much for Hope and Change or an open honest debate.
You are correct about Gen. Smedley Butler. He was a true American hero for coming forward with the elites' efforts to hire him to lead an army into Washington to overthrow the government. These were the same bankers and industrialists who were bankrolling Hitler's Nazis. Instead of rewarding Butler, he was vilified by the media as a nut job.
As it turned out, they didn't need to overthrow the government to accomplish their ends. The political branches and the judicial branch simply handed them control of our government on a silver platter. The Republic established by the U.S. Constitution is dead.
