Stabbing Or Shooting?

Another stabbing or shooting occurred on the city's eastside at the Spanish Oaks apartment complex near 38th & Mitthoefer. Various news reports agreed IMPD's SWAT team had to be called in to take the suspect into custody but disagreed on whether it was a shooting or stabbing:

WTHR: "One person is in serious condition after a stabbing at the Spanish Oaks apartment complex on the city's east side."

WRTV: "A man barricaded himself inside an east-side Indianapolis apartment Monday afternoon after allegedly shooting someone, police confirmed."

Fox 59: "Indianapolis Metropolitan police said the victim was wounded in the neck and taken to Eskenazi Hospital; it was unclear if the person was shot or stabbed, police said. Detectives were still working to figure out exactly what happened."

WISH: "Members of the SWAT team were called to the east side of Indianapolis Monday afternoon to the scene where a person was shot."

Star: "A Hispanic man was found with a neck wound, but it is uncertain whether it was from a shooting or a stabbing."

An unrelated incident occurred on the City's northeast side where a fatal shooting occurred inside a home in the 8700 block of Gunpowder Drive (no pun intended) during a domestic disturbance. A white male suspect, Billy Brantley, surrendered to police peacefully in that incident. He told police he shot his brother-in-law, Bruce Gunn, a retired chemist at Eli Lilly while defending his sister during a domestic argument. A man named Gunn was shot to death on Gun Powder Drive. What are the odds?
