Durham Police Admit Using Fake 911 Calls To Enter Homes Without A Warrant
The Durham, North Carolina police have been the subject of numerous scandals of late. The latest is quite disturbing. A police officer testifying in a civil case involving equal employment opportunities admitted that police routinely lied about non-existent 911 calls as an excuse for entering homes without a warrant. According to the officer, police would target homes associated with persons known to have an outstanding warrant. The city's police chief, Jose Lopez, who recently came under fire for saying that a public defender should be shot because he represents criminals, insists it was never an official policy, and has sent out a memo to that fact.
