Various Indianapolis media outlets are reporting that IMPD Captain Mark Rice was arrested while off-duty on suspicion of operating a vehicle while intoxicated on the City's west side near I-465 and West Washington Street. Lt. Chris Bailey says that Rice has been placed on administrative leave pending an internal affairs investigation. Rice's arrest was made by the Indianapolis International Airport Police. According to WRTV, Rice is the sixth IMPD officer arrested for drunk driving since last August.

Somebody call Judge Surbeck to get his Courtroom ready for Rice's trial.
How about the idoit FOP President and his comment on television about the arres; that the officer's excessive drinking is a reflection of the stressful times that IMPD is experiencing. Humm, didn't know that a stressful job was an excuse to drink excessivley, then get behind the wheel of a car and endanger others. Interesting comment from an obviously astute president of the FOP
Anonymous 6:32 or anyone else, is the FOP Prez an active P/O?? And if so is he getting 2 salaries? Every time he's interviewed he's always in casual clothing or at the FOP office. Just wondering if anyone have an answer.
Sgt. Owensby is an active Sgt on the police dept. His assignment is being the FOP President. He only draws one paycheck just like the rest of us. His uniform is event specific, but daily in the office is business casual.
Anon 12:16: I did the research and found out that the FOP President does get his regular pay for being the FOP President by The City...but he also gets an extra $15,000.00 from the FOP on top of that just for being President! -He also gets expenses paid by the FOP
Did anyone else notice that the Police didn't have a problem nearly as big a problem with alcohol until Frank Straub came here and destroyed morale, stopped buying toilet paper for the restrooms, stopped buying basic office supplies, and wasted our TAX money on his personal suite (with private shower...not to mention he married his appointed department head), cronies who got lots of contracts like badges, "consultants", etc.?
