More Pit Bull Madness In Indy
A pack of pit bull dogs trapped a 69-year-old Indianapolis resident, Roosevelt Tramill, in his pickup truck in his Kitley Avenue neighborhood Monday evening. "Tramill said the dogs 'surrounded his vehicle and growled and bared their teeth,' according to a report from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department," the Star reports. "He said they 'jumped up and down on the doors which prevented him from leaving.” According to the Star, an IMPD officer shot and killed one of the dogs when police responded to a call and one of the dogs charged the officer. The dog belonged to 35-year-old Rico Terry. On Sunday, a 53-year-old Indianapolis man suffered a severe heart attack while attempting to break up a fight between his pit bull dog and a neighbor's doberman. "The man's pit bull had broken its chain and was fighting with a neighbor's dog," the Star reported.

The Pit lovers will be after you...but the fact remains that Pits are genetic dangerous vicious dogs and pose a threat to innocent citizens. Now that there has been a long overdue change in administration at Animal Care and Control then maybe the city can start to address this problem.
I always have been for an ordinance outlawing pitbulls in Indianapolis, and have heard no arguments that have caused me to change my mind. People over pitbulls!!
Unfortunately Pit Bulls and the entire Molosser family of dogs have a reputation for being dangerous dogs. The truth of the matter is that because of careless dog owners not taking the responsibility to train their dogs; and or abusing there dogs, and training them to be fighting dogs we have given this breed that reputation. Pitbulls are strong dogs and like any other dog require training and selective breeding. The dog breed shouldn't be branded with this reputation. I have worked with many pitbulls over the course of many years and never have I met one that was geneticly predisposed to being dangerous. I have seen them become as any other dog (or human) defensive after being abused. Please before you pass judgement on this dog remember what you see on the TV and read in the newspaper is not always the whole story.
Thank you Eric. Well said :)
