House Passes Obama Stimulus Bill

The House passed Obama's $819 billion spending plan to kick start the American economy by a 244-188 vote tonight. All Republicans and eleven Democrats voted against the pork-laden bill, including Indiana's Rep. Brad Ellsworth. If someone can explain to me in simple terms how this new spending plan will help out-of-work Americans where the trillions in new spending this past year failed, please share. As far as I'm concerned, this is nothing more than a huge pay off to the special interest groups which backed Obama's successful campaign. What else would you expect from a Chicago politician? The Democrats are kicking out of office Gov. Rod Blagojevich for comparatively petty pay-to-play games in the Land of Lincoln, while they're patting President Obama and themselves on the back for a job well done.

Stimulus bill moves us closer to nationalized health care and rationing

The House of Representatives approved an $819 billion economic stimulus package Wednesday. The party line vote was a blow to Barack Obama's alleged desire for bipartisanship. All the Republicans and 11 democrats voted against the bill. One thing in the bill that went mostly unnoticed was a new bureaucracy called the Federal Coordinating Council for Comparative Effectiveness Research.

Gary, it has been a while. I am not happy with some of the minor details of the bill but I think the answer is that what was spent was not directed at anywhere but the financial sector.

By the way, any idea how come my post on the lousy weather shows up as linking to this post of yours?

When the thing fails to do a damned thing for our economy (like Bailout I), we'll only have the democrats to blame for the failure of BAILOUT II.

Thanks Republicans.

Sam, Blogger has a feature that allows other blogs to link to a post and the link will appear with the post unless the blocker featured is turned on. I just noticed links are showing up to other posts on blogger which have nothiing to do with my post. I'll check into it it, but I suspect it is something on your blog that is automatically creating the link.

Brian Howey flat out misrepresents the vote as a "party line" vote.

"While the U.S. House passed the Democratic-written stimulus bill Wednesday, Indiana’s four Republican congressmen joined the minority Republicans in a party line vote."

Howey goes on to offer statements from each member of Indiana's congressional delegation to explain their vote, except for Ellworth, who joined 10 other Democrats in voting against the stimulus legislation.

When do we get Bailout III?

You KNOW it's only a matter of time before Bailout II is deemed 'a success' but 'more is required to keep us moving in the right direction.'

Like any addict, once you sample the 'white rabbit' you need more and more to keep your buzz.
