McGoff Hits Burton For "Missing In Action"

Dr. John McGoff hits the radio airwaves this week with ads highlighting the number of votes his 5th District opponent, U.S. Rep. Dan Burton, has missed in Congress. The ad says:

"Missing in action," begins the ad. "In one year, Congressman Dan Burton missed 32 important committee meetings dealing with the War on Terror. Is this what you want from your congressman?"
The ad goes on to mention specific meetings and votes missed by Burton according to a McGoff press release. The campaign notes that it also highlights the extensive military background of McGoff, who currently serves as a Colonel in the Air National Guard and flew military missions into Iraq and Afghanistan in 2006. "We really think this is an important issue to highlight," said Trevor Foughty, campaign manager and spokesman for McGoff. "On the one hand, you have a guy who is still actively serving his country in the military; a guy who spent time away from his family to go into Iraq and help wounded troops. And on the other hand, you have a career politician who skipped a hearing on poor conditions Walter Reed--where some of those wounded troops end up going--because he has 'a new lady' and the flight was too early for him."

The has to be the most tactful negative style ad I have heard. And, it would only be negative if it weren't true. I might have added in and where was Danny? Off play golf of course... About the only thing more frightening about Danny is Andre or Greg Garrison having Danny on every week as if to extol his virtues.

Danny probably still had better attendance than Julia Carson after all that.

Julia Carson was dying of cancer - I certainly hope that Dan Burton has a lesser excuse for his multiple absences!

Even I am letting poor Julia rest in peace except for that prayer i give each night about slapping her silly in Heaven for making the Send my Seed comment. Her's is totally excusable where Danny's is not. Though the only time I needed assistance Julia's staff was worthless and Burton's was not. In that regard at least his staff is smarter than he is.
