Lawrence Swearing-In Ceremony Should Be Entertaining

Lawrence Mayor-elect Paul Ricketts has chosen radio talk show host and part-time stand-up comedian Abdul Hakim-Shabazz, a Springfield, Illinois resident, to serve as master of ceremonies for his swearing-in and that of city council members this Friday at the Lawrence Government Center at 6:00 p.m. Court of Appeals Judge Cale Bradford will administer the oaths of office to Ricketts and the council members. Shabazz, along with Kris Butler of the Greater Lawrence Chamber of Commerce, will present distinguished service awards to former council members.
