Go Vote!

It's difficult to ask people to exercise their right to vote when so many of the choices offered by the two political parties were scooped from the bottom of the barrel. Nonetheless, there are some important races that make voting worthwhile in today's municipal primary election. Here in Marion County, disenchanted voters can cast protest votes for other candidates on the ballot running against the anointed Democratic and Republican anointed candidates for Indianapolis mayor, Joe Hogsett and Chuck Brewer. Two very valuable members of the Indianapolis City-County Council, Angela Mansfield (D-District 1) and Christine Scales (R-District 3), are trying to buck their respective parties to remain in office. There are referendum questions on the ballot to raise property taxes in Perry and Wayne Townships for schools. There are a number of hotly-contested mayoral races in the suburban counties as well as school referendum questions. You can't complain about your choices in the November election if you didn't bother to vote in the primary election. Unfortunately, if early voting is any indication, it appears that 10% or fewer of registered voters will bother to vote today.

Don't vote. This is a primary election.

The primaries are for two very awful parties, and when you vote in a primary, you are joining one of these two crappy parties. Do you really want to do that?

Real voting occurs in November when none of us should vote for any Democrat or Republican.

I voted today. Well, sort of....I just cast an empty ballot.

The judge and inspector perked up when the machine chirped at me, warning it was an empty ballot.

I just pushed the "accept" button and went on my way.

Is that a bad thing?

anon 11:01, I was not going to vote because of a lack of honest folks slated by the GOP. But, I am going to follow your suggestion. thank you

Re: all Anon commenters above... I feel similary. I took a different tact. I voted for NON-SLATED GOP wherever possible. Where there were GOP races with only slated candidates, I cast NO vote. A grea feeling... like of like a middle finger going up to Kyle Walker and Co. as my ballot was scanned.

with everyone complaining about government corruption, lies, and dishonest and self serving politicians, seems a vote for big gov democrats would be out of the question...but instead people still willing to cast their vote for democrats who attack opposing party while pushing lies all built up in lame attempt to convince voters more gov is needed. hard to imagine any politician running campaign of less of themselves, but thats whats needed, and the only party even talking about less gov, less corruption is GOP.

It appears Christine Scales is going to hold on to her primary challenge to take on Pam Hickman in the fall

OT, the gift that keeps on giving, the ROC. It appears that there will be a solar array built on the ROC site (east side of the complex with the panels facing South). Will the ROC get the same deal on solar power that the airport receives?, if so, then we can add an increase in our electric rates on top of the 20 million dollar lease. When does this Wagnerian Opera end?
