Question Of The Day: Why Would A Libertarian Want Rev. Charles Harrison To Be Their Mayoral Candidate?

Rev. Charles Harrison (Star Photo)
Rev. Charles Harrison didn't say which party he would seek office as Indianapolis mayor next year if he decides to run when he filed paperwork to form an exploratory committee last week. He said he could run as a Republican, Democrat, independent or even as the Libertarian candidate. Surprisingly, rumor has it that some Libertarians want Rev. Harrison to run under their banner, even though there are no known views of Harrison which align with Libertarian ideology. The person who is listed as the treasurer of his exploratory committee identifies herself as a Republican. Sahara Williams is president of Enginuity Engineering, which counts the City of Indianapolis among its clients. She ran unsuccessfully for the City-County Council in the last municipal election in District 7 against Council President Maggie Lewis. Republicans could benefit from Harrison's candidacy to the extent his campaign would be successful in siphoning votes away from Joe Hogsett's Democratic campaign. So would Libertarians allow someone to run under their party banner simply as a way of helping elect a Republican mayor next year? That's the question of the day.

If you go by the premise that being a Libertarian is all about Peace, Prosperity and Harmony,,then yes.Im sure there will be conflicts such as pot and the TSA,,but why not…Libs are all about self reliance and not depending on anyone else..He would get a lot of National attention..The Ds will not allow him to be on the ticket, they will challenge every signature he has and they will make sure he is toast..however, if he runs as an L he's already in..this could be interesting and this could had the race to the Rs…We all don't agree with everything that our own party does, so why not.

More than any of the numerous failures, lies, and outright deceits of the current City administration, ex-soldier Greg Ballard may be most remembered as the politician who singlehandedly lowered the bar for Indy mayoral candidates.

Rupert was an embarrassment. I was a fan of the last Peterson the L's ran.

An L has to stand for something greater than 5% of the electorate.

Sahara Williams also is the BFF of a City-County Building 26th floor resident: Mr. Greg Wilson, the City of Indianapolis MBE/WBE Diversity Manager. Aren't you shocked?

Not at all. It's just further evidence the Rs are behind Harrison's candidacy for less than pure motives.

The only way we can possibly have any choice other than one the Shadow Government's Nominal Republican, or Nominal Democrat choices for Mayor is a strong, well versed Lib candidate.

Hopefully, a Lib candidate who is articulate, and is willing to challenge the Crony-Capitalism rampant in this City.

The Libs would be well advised to avoid Harrison.

I hope the Black community doesn't let itself get played.

Or how a guy that is an ex marine owns a contract with the city to board up houses and can afford commercial real estate investments.
Pay to play for way too long...Grand juries?

Ah yes, Sahara Williams....maybe Harrison needs to have a little conversation with her if she is supposed to representing him. You can judge people by the who they allow surround them.

Face it: Harrison lacks credibility. He appears to be another Jesse, Al, or Louis....looking for the money.

His program is a failure, how many 10-Point have been victimized? What kind of car & chauffeur does Harrison have?

Frank Straub liked him, and that means to FOLLOW THE $$$$

Harrison was a Frank Straub clone. He is all about the money.

Does he have an ounce of sincerity in anything he says? -Or is he all about the $$$$?

Question: does the Marion County LP select its mayoral candidate at convention?

Oh come on! Many of us who read, write & participate in these blogs know each, making us a conspiracy in our decision of questionable associations- that's a joke.

This idea that Harrison's life at risk ministry is somehow a cash cow is crazy talk. Check the history of his street ministry & ask how many people you know put themselves on the line as he does.

Let the guy tell us who he is & we can judge for ourselves. Who again is the Republican candidate that Harrison is going to "help?"

He is positioning himself for a higher office/stature. Rumor is Harrison wants Hogsett (and the potential GOP candidate) to appease him specifically, taking over Olgen Williams position as Deputy Mayor of Neigbhorhoods (whatever that is) along with the $100,000 salary it comes with. IF Harrison does not get a tentative position, he will actively sway voters to a from certain mayoral candidates.

Be original. That is a quote by Ghandi that is posted at the Westfield HS pool.
