Daniels' Plane Makes Emergency Landing

A state aircraft flying Gov. Mitch Daniels to Washington, D.C. this morning was forced to make an unscheduled landing in Columbus, Ohio after the plane's windshield cracked. This late-breaking news was delivered by CBS News' Bob Schieffer, host of "Face The Nation", where Daniels was scheduled to make an appearance this morning while attending a meeting of the National Governors Association. Ohio state police drove Daniels to a television station in Columbus where he participated in the news show to discuss the President's federal stimulus plan.

First, no one wishes for any kind of accident...but the logic of Gov. Daniels in today's STAR is very faulty. He could not get a commercial flight to D.C. without staying all night so in order to save the taxpayers the cost of 1 night's hotel room, he used the aircraft which cost over $1000 an hour to operate. The plane alone would end up costing over $5000. No wonder the budget in this state is a mess if the governor's financial logic is used for most state expenditures.
