The driver, whose name was not released, was described as a 10-year veteran detective of the police department. He apparently misjudged a curb as he was navigating the turn and struck it, causing the woman to be thrown from the bike. The motorcycle traveled nearly another block before coming to a stop. The officer attempted unsuccessfully to render aid to the accident victim. Police say alcohol or speed was not a suspected factor in the crash. The officer was being treated for minor injuries.

There are cameras covering West and Washington.
Will their recordings go down the memory hole?
I can't tell what make/model bike that is besides that its definitely not a Harley or a Victory, and its some sort of sport bike. You hit a curb head on at normal street speed, you're gonna high-side and it's gonna hurt. Showing off for the lady? Not compensating for the extra weight on the back while leaning into a turn?
And Gary I thought I saw on 59 news that "speed or alcohol are NOT factors" in the crash?
The news reports did indicate that neither alcohol nor speed were factors in the crash, Sir Hailstone. I thought that's what I wrote, but it didn't quite read that way initially.
Bikes don't slide for a block on a high side or at low speeds.
Those Crotch rockets are not designed to carry a B.O.G. Big Ole Girl on the back, their center of gravity just isn't there, yet I see it all the time!
