Sen. Mark Kirk Returns To The Senate

Illinois Sen. Mark Kirk returned to Capitol Hill today with the help of Vice President Joe Biden and his closest friend in the Senate, West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin. Sen. Kirk suffered a serious stroke from a severed vein near his brain last spring that required several surgeries and months of rehabilitation. "Feels great," Kirk said to reporters on his return to work. “I'm walking again, leading to my hope to climb the 45 steps that my staff counted from the parking lot to the Senate front door to fight for the people of Illinois.” Vice President Biden similarly had to take a long break from the Senate after he suffered a brain aneurysm in 1988.
