GOP Calls For Bowes Resignation

Several GOP city-county council candidates today called for the resignation of Greg Bowes as Marion County Assessor. Kurt Webber, who is challenging City-County Council President Monroe Gray (D) in District 8 this November, led the charge. “It is now apparent that one of the many causes of Marion County’s property tax crisis was a faulty assessment on homeowners,” said Kurt Webber, a Council Candidate in District 8. “Greg Bowes was unable to do his job properly, and he should step aside. “Whether an assessor is a Democrat or a Republican makes no difference in the eyes of the public right now. They need public servants who are willing and capable of performing,” Webber added.

Webber points to Bowes' own admissions during an interview on WXNT to support his view that Bowes should resign. "Bowes stated he made errors, specifically sending an assessment containing errors to the state." “The sole duty of a County Assessor is to do an accurate assessment of property values in his county. Bowes was unable to do his one statutory role properly. Why should he remain in office?” Webber asked.

Meanwhile, assessors sought today to deflect blame for the property tax fiasco. "We did not break they system," said Becky William, Indiana Assessors Association President. "The state legislature chose to favor businesses by giving them personal property investments and deductions and doing away with the inventory tax." "Apparently the legislature is getting bad advice. We saw this coming. They should have." "We've said over and over again in Marion County, this was a perfect storm. We made no provision for doing away with inventory tax. Our council didn't want to do it. They were warned what was gonna happen. Nobody paid any attention. We screamed and yelled, but nobody listened to us. They never listen to the people that do the work every day," Williams said. Williams told WTHR the new reassessment ordered by Gov. Daniels in Marion Co. would only reduce homeowners property tax bills if business assessments are raised "a whole lot."

Bowes is incompetent, just like Beth "I can't run an election or open precincts" White, (D) Clerk, and Carl "I can buy 3 giant office buildings I don't need with TAX money & put a bar in one" Drummer (D), Center Twp Trustee, Monroe "Sweet Pea" Gray (D) City-Council President "I don't know what my wife does," when she is part-owner of the bar in the Center Twp Trustee's building, Lonnell Conley, (D) Council majority leader, whose wife approved a variance for "Sweet Pea's" wife to have her bar in the Center Twp Trustee building....

and how about TAX & SPEND Bart (D) mayor?

"The Machine" needs to be removed from office. All these Democrats are TAXing and SPENDing OUR money.

Let's not forget these losers have a pay hike on the table. Sure don't see the Mayor getting out in front to call for that idea to be dropped.

Can we please all just vote Ballard and be done with it?

Sure, you can vote for Ballard, but you're going to vote for a losign candidate.

That's right...let's shoot the messenger. Makes perfect sense.

When this unravels, and it will, the State will be responsible for most of this.
