Paint Irvington Blue!

The Greater Indianapolis Fairness Alliance will be hosting an evening of art, music and fun in honor of Democrat state representative candidate John Barnes in the heart of Irvington on Thursday, August 17, 2006, at the Irvington Lodge, 5515 E. Washington Street from 7:00-9:00 p.m. "Paint Irvington Blue" hopes to build community support for Barnes' candidacy against incumbent Rep. Larry Buell (R).

The Barnes-Buell matchup has been rated a toss-up race by several political pundits. With control of the Indiana House hanging in the balance, this is one of the key races which will determine whether House Speaker Brian Bosma will succeed in: retaining his slim 52-48 majority; and his determined effort to write discrimination into the Indiana Constitution against gay and lesbian couples. Barnes supports equal rights for gays and lesbians and does not support the proposed constitutional amendment, SJR-7, which would bar the state from legally recognizing same-sex marriages or any other benefits for same-sex couples which are currently conferred to opposite-sex couples only.

Donations of $25 or more to The Committee To Elect John Barnes are encouraged. For more information about Paint Irvington Blue, contact Kevin Fyffe at kjf6483@yahoo.com or Pepper Partin at pepper.partin@sbcglobal.net.
