Daniels Gives Job To Strittmatter After He Dropped Congressional Bid And Endorsed Messer

Is it a coincidence? On Monday, the 6th District congressional campaign of Luke Messer announced Matt Strittmatter, a former Wayne Co. Sheriff, was dropping his bid for the congressional seat being vacated by U.S. Rep. Mike Pence and endorsing Messer. Three days later, Gov. Mitch Daniels announced he was appointing Strittmatter to become the new superintendent of the Indiana Excise Police to replace Alex Huskey, who became the new chairman of the Alcohol and Tobacco Commission.

Daniels also named James Huston as his new executive director of the Office of Faith Based and Community Initiatives. Huston just stepped down after a brief stint working as district director for U.S. Rep. Todd Rokita.
