Chicago Teachers Union Boss Makes Over $200K, Owns Three Homes
Chicago Teachers Union boss Karen Lewis is contemplating a run for Chicago mayor against Rahm Emanuel, the man who is a frequent target of her criticism. She frequently rails against wealth and refers to the multi-millionaire Emanuel as "Mayor 1%." It turns out that Lewis earns more than $200,000 a year and owns three homes, including a condominium in Hawaii, according to watchdog reporters for the Chicago Sun-Times. Lewis and her husband own a $405,000 condominium in the upscale Kenwood neighborhood where Barack and Michelle Obama purchased their south side mansion with the help of political fixer Tony Rezko. Lewis and her husband, a retired physical education teacher, also own a condominium on the Big Island of Hawaii worth at least $240,000. Lewis also owns a third vacation home with her sister in Union Pier, Michigan, worth $305,000 not far from where Emanuel owns a second home he bought several years ago for $675,000. Is it fair to say the empress has no clothes?
This woman reminds me of Hillary Rodham Clinton who moans that she is not "truly wealthy" even though her income completely belies whatever she says about her financial status. But that is par for the course with any liberal as with this Chicago union hypocrite- lie, distort, point the finger elsewhere- anything but admit the truth. It's part of the liberal genetic composition.
ReplyDeletea union boss who has a place in Union Pier? Who'd have thunk it?
ReplyDeleteJust because I'm uneducated in these matters and you're obviously not, how does that salary compared with other similarly sized teachers' unions?
ReplyDeleteThe relevant question is how much is the highest paid teacher in Chicago earning. Lewis had made a pledge not to earn more than the highest paid public teacher in Chicago when she first became head of the union. I assume there is not teacher making anywhere close to that amount, but it is Chicago so I suppose anything is possible. She's also drawing paychecks from two different unions, which may be how she got around her campaign promise.
ReplyDeleteThis proves the hypocrisy of labor unions, especially the NEA!
ReplyDeleteSo, how much does she make from the Teacher's Union directly and how much from Chicago Public Schools?
Any way you cut it, it is obscene that a retired teacher and a Union President make that much money, living in a $405,000 luxury condo. I'm sure she'd say "it's for the children."
