Feds Bring Additional Charges Against Perps In Indy Land Bank Scheme

A former member of the Ballard administration responsible for administering Indianapolis' Land Bank program, along with one of his co-conspirators, is facing additional wire fraud charges. The IBJ reports that Reginald Walton, who formerly ran the Land Bank, and David Johnson, executive director of the Indiana Minority AIDS Coalition, face additional charges for allegedly lining their own pockets by requiring qualified buyers of homes held by the Land Bank to pay $5,000 per home instead of the $1,000 price that was supposed to be charged to them. Walton and Johnson allegedly pocketed the $4,000 difference for themselves. Ironically, the victims of their scheme were people the Marion Co. Prosecutor's Office had identified as being the victims of a previous mortgage fraud scheme. U.S. Attorney Joe Hogsett's office previously announced 8 charges of wire fraud, bribery and conspiracy charges against five defendants involved in a series of fraudulent transactions undertaken by the city's Land Bank under Walton's leadership.

Low-level crime against throwaway low-level perps. Gives the appearance of real activity.

Meanwhile, all of IMPD conspired to sabotage any case against Bisard, and Hogsett is nowhere.

Ballard uses City government as a means of redirecting millions of public dollars to political friends, and Hogsett is nowhere.

The Mayor's office is entirely owned by a major Indy law firm, and Hogsett is nowhere.

IMPD cops kill citizens, and Hogsett never opens a federal civil rights investigation.

The Mitch Daniels crew did some truly shocking stuff with state government, and Hogsett was nowhere.

This case does not deserve prosecutorial chest-thumping.

Oh, wait, it looks like Hogsett is Baker & Daniels, so he's deeply part of this game. http://www.zoominfo.com/s/#!search/profile/person?personId=1583970340&targetid=profile

Hogsett knows that if he just waits for the winds to change, his folks will take over and get to run the same games, but for the benefit of their people.

    Indy is irredeemable.

  3. ANON, it seems Hogsett, an Evan Bayh protege, for Mayor is being pushed or at the very least being given the press At least from what I found on WIKI:

On August 15, 2012, the Indianapolis Star published a piece entitled, "Is U.S. Attorney Joe Hogsett eyeing a run at Indianapolis mayor?

In December 2012, the Indianapolis Business Journal named Hogsett a 2012 Newsmaker in a piece entitled, "Crime stance returns Hogsett to political spotlight."

Then we have May 29, 2013 Matthew Tully: Joe Hogsett for mayor? It's early, but he'd be a strong contender.

Jun. 14, 2013 Russ Pulliam: Joe Hogsett will follow familiar path if he runs for mayor.

Monday, January 28, 2013 Indy Democrat Blog: Hogsett Still THE Key Player in 2015 Race for Mayor. Will he run or won't he run? Democrats want to know, but Greg Ballard and Brian Mahern REALLY want to know.

Melina Kennedy - Baker & Daniels

Bart Peterson - Got his entire staff from Baker & Daniels, to where they all returned after the election.

Joe Hogsett - Baker & Daniels

Brian Mahern - No Baker & Daniels

Hogsett will crush Mahern in a primary. There is already an abundant mountain of press material accusing Mahern of being crazy, a bad Democrat or attempting a "coup."

Hogsett is willing to do the bidding of the plutocracy, so he can be trusted with the nomination.

  5. Hogsett never worked for Baker & Daniels. He worked for Bingham.
