Northwest Indiana Mayor Drops Out Of Auditor's Race
LaPorte Mayor Blair Milo, one of the female candidates seeking to be appointed the next state auditor to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Tim Berry, has dropped out of contention according to the Munster Times. Milo was thought to be one of six candidates Gov. Mike Pence has interviewed for the job after Berry stepped down to become the GOP's new state chairman. The presumption is that Pence intends to appoint a woman. Focus has been on an unknown Fishers woman, Cecilia Coble, favored by some party insiders because she is also Hispanic. Former Marion Co. Clerk Doris Anne Sandler, who once worked in the state auditor's office, has also been mentioned. State Rep. Tom Saunders, Indianapolis City-County Councilor Mike McQuillen and Brownsburg Town Council president Dwayne Sawyer have also expressed interest in the appointment.
