Durham Living It Up In LA
WISH-TV's David Barras tracks down alleged Ponzi scheme operator Tim Durham out in Los Angeles where he is living in a palatial home in the Hollywood Hills overlooking Sunset Drive which he rents for between $20,000 to $25,000, while he lets the family of his porn star girlfriend live in another L.A. home he owns that is listed for sale at $2.8 million, a million less than he paid for it in 2005. Durham owes unpaid taxes on homes and commercial property back home in Indiana totalling in the tens of thousands of dollars. Durham runs National Lampoon, Inc., a company in which he is a major shareholder. He has been running it since his handpicked CEO Dan Laikin pleaded guilty to securities law fraud and was sentenced to spend time in a federal prison. Barras also tracked down Durham's son, who is attending school at UCLA, doing a stand-up comedy routine at a comedy club.
In other Durham news, WRTV reports his father, a Seymour dentist, has abruptly closed down his dental practice without notifying his patients. Dr. Charles J. Durham had operated an office at 410 S. Chestnut St. in Seymour for decades, but the space is now cleaned out and the dental equipment donated for use in Haiti, 6News' Rafael Sanchez reported. Family sources tell Sanchez the closure of Dr. Durham's dental practice has nothing to do with his son's legal problems.
What do you suppose would happen if anyone besides an elite like Durham owed $100,000 in taxes in various parts of Indiana?
