Chicago Man Charged In Mumbai Muslim Terrorist Attack

There are more serious signs of homegrown Muslim terrorism. That deadly terrorist attack in Mumbai, India last year that left 170 people dead, including six Americans, and injured hundreds more, was based on the pre-planning and surveillance work of a 49-year-old Chicago man, David Headley, formerly known as Daood Gilani. Headley had already been charged with plotting to kill a Danish cartoonist who drew an image of Mohammad that Muslims found offensive. The Sun-Times reports:

Headley, a Pakistani national who met Rana as a youth at a military school, had traveled throughout India in five separate trips between September 2006 and November 2008.

After each trip, Headley reported back to Pakistani militants, providing them with photographs, videos and oral descriptions of various targets in Mumbai, charges say.

Among Headley’s missions were boat trips in and around Mumbai’s harbor to shoot surveillance video, the charges say.

Headley, a U.S. citizen, was charged with six counts of conspiracy to bomb public places in India, to murder and maim persons in India and Denmark, to provide material support to foreign terrorist plots and to provide material support to Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), a Pakistani-based militant group.

Headley, who attended terror training camps with the LeT in 2002 and 2003, was arrested in October on charges connected to the Danish plot.

Also Monday, new charges were unsealed against a retired major in the Pakistani military, Abdur Rehman. He is charged with conspiracy in the Danish plot.
Last month, federal authorities charged eight in connection with recruitment efforts among young men in Minneapolis' Somali-Muslim commmunity to carry out terrorist attacks within Somalia. Shortly before that, Maj. Malik Nadal carried out a terrorist attack at Ft. Hood, which left 13 dead and 31 wounded. Earlier this summer, a radicalized Muslim attacked a Little Rock, Arkansas Army recruitment center, killing one soldier and wounding another. Yeah, I'd say we have a problem with terrorism right here in the U.S.

  1. Our long-term policies of having our military provide the muscle for our corporations to plunder third-world countries creates blowback. Couple that with imbecilic immigration and refuge policies (wait until the children of the Iraqi refugees grow up)that are intended to provide cover for our advancing empire, and you have a recipe for disaster. It is only going to get worse. What people always seem to forget is that 9/11 (regardless of whether it was a false-flag operation or not) happened because the terrorists were here, with the Saudi Visa express making it very easy for some (http://www.nationalreview.com/mowbray/mowbray061402.asp).
