From the moment John McCain selected her as his running mate, the Left never relented in its efforts to destroy her. Even now that she has announced her decision to step down as Alaska governor, the Left couldn't avoid another parting shot at her and her family. Leftist bloggers claimed Palin resigned because she was the subject of an FBI investigation surrounding the construction of her home on Lake Lucille in Wasilla. The bloggers claimed a Wasilla building supply company had subsidized construction of the Palins' home as consideration for its participation in the construction of a public facility that Palin as mayor had no part of managing. This Internet rumor got its boost from Shannyn Moore, a radio talk show host and blogger from Alaska, who is an avowed Palin hater. Like they did throughout the campaign, the Left and its friends in the mainstream media ran with Moore's false and defamatory claims. The Palin-hating MSNBC allowed Moore to state the false claims during an interview. The story has caused the FBI to take the unusual step of denying an investigation. As the Anchorage Daily News reports:
"We are not investigating her," FBI spokesman Eric Gonzalez said on Sunday. "Normally we don't confirm or deny those kind of allegations out there, but by not doing so it just casts her in a very bad light. There is just no truth to those rumors out there in the blogosphere."The Palin-hating Moore was characteristically indignant about reporting yet another false rumor about her. She conducted a press conference in front of Palin's Anchorage office to deny a claim by Palin's attorney that she had defamed the Palins, hiding behind the First Amendment. The ADN reports:
Moore fired back on Sunday by calling a press conference in front of the governor's downtown Anchorage office and calling Palin "a coward and a bully." Moore said she only pointed out that rumors existed -- and she never claimed them to be fact.As I said when I heard of her resignation announcement on Friday, I thought Palin was making a mistake. On the other hand, I haven't had to endure the non-stop, hate machine she has faced from the Left and the mainstream media from the day John McCain made her a household name. We have learned more things, true and untrue, about the life of Sarah Palin over the past year than we know about Barack Hussein Obama, the man we elected as our President. When is the media going to start telling us about the missing pieces of his life story?
"What kind of politician attacks an ordinary American on the Fourth of July for speaking her mind? What's wrong with her? The first amendment was designed to protect people like me from people like her. Our American revolution got rid of kings. And it got rid of queens, as well. Am I annoyed? You betcha," Moore said.
She said that "Shannyn Moore will not be muzzled."
"There is a scandal rumor here that there is a criminal investigation into some activities and that's been rumored for about, I don't know, probably six weeks or two months," Moore said on MSNBC, later commenting that Palin looked nervous and she believed the governor was doing damage control for news that would come out.
Van Flein on Sunday also highlighted a message Moore sent Friday on her own Twitter account, saying "yes, I know the nature of the scandal. Timing, baby timing." He said Moore has been cited as a source for reporting of a possible federal indictment. (The national "Brad Blog" quoted Moore as saying Palin resigned because a scandal was about to break. Moore said she was misquoted and can't control other blogs.)
Moore said the governor's sudden resignation didn't make sense and has Alaskans wondering what is really going on. She said Palin had a "massive overreaction" to her comments.
"I think it's great that the FBI has come out and said the rumor isn't true. ... But the fact, that I reported, that there was a rumor, is true. There was a rumor and she dispelled the rumor and that's great," Moore said.
The rumors that you complain about were fueled by the bizarre behavior of Palin. Who knows if they are true or not but she fed them with her erratic behavior and continues to do so. She has the honor of having her Alaskan Attorney General nominee rejected by the Alaskan legislature which is heavily controlled by her own party. This is a first for Alaska.
ReplyDeleteErratic Behavior? WHAT?
ReplyDeleteThe only "erratic Behavior" I see is the behavior of the Bedmate Media and the Erosionist LIE-beral Left Loonys, but than again if this is what they do constantly you couldn;t call it erratic behavior maybe a better term is WRONG Behavior, Evil Behavior, UNamerican Behaviors or better all of the above.
When oh when will we hear about Obanana's erratic behavior.
When will we get to the bottom of his being a British Citizen and a FOREIGNER who should be removed from office and MANY accomplices arrested adn removed as well.
WHEN?
I like Sarah, but after her resignation I could not vote for her to be President. Why? because if she stepped down due to the heat she has been getting by the left, what would she do if elected to the Presidency?
ReplyDeleteIt is utterly sickening to see how mean the Media and the left has been to her, but fail to be mean to others in the left.
Had Sarah been a liberal she wouldn't have had the tactics used on her that have been used.
The left should look in the mirror, before casting stones.
I've not noticed erratic behavior from Sarah Palin. I do think, however, she scares the hell out of the left.
ReplyDeleteArt, don't you notice a little sexism in your suggestion that Palin might be mentally unbalanced?
ReplyDeleteERRATIC BEHAVIOR
ReplyDelete1. Hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of clothes for her family purchased by campaign funds ..many of which were never unpacked or worn.
2. claims to see Russia from her front porch.
3. Being pregnant in Texas and having her water break, giving a speech, getting a plane flying a long flight to Alaska, bypassing two hospitals to give birth in her local small hospital.
4. Trashing McCain who selected her to be his running mate.
and on and on and on and on...
Or we can talk about how Barack Obama wrote two biographies before he was even elected to the U.S. Senate. Both books have been documented to include multiple fabrications about his life. Obama took kickbacks as a state senator. Obama introduced Gov. Blago to his best friend, Tony Rezko, and used that connection to raise mega campaign bucks for political favors and appointments by the Blago administration. Obama is not a natural born citizen as required by the U.S. Constitution to be president because he was a dual citizen at birth by his own admission as a consequence of his father being a Kenyan citizen. And I can go on. Whatever slime you want to heave at Palin, it doesn't approach the false biography Obama was allowed to present to the American people.
ReplyDeleteart,
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure that #2 was from a Saturday Night Live sketch.
ERRATIC BEHAVIOR EXAMPLES:
ReplyDelete1.Using taxpayer funds (Michelle Obama and girls) to take a junket to London to go shopping when most of America can't afford to do such thngs.
2. Obama wants to be president of "these 57 states".
3. Rushing and pushing through the biggest spending bill in history, and then jumping on the plane to go to Italy thinking you are going to get an audience with the pope when you push legislation to fund abortions. (Pelosi)
4. Trashing and denying your minister who married you (who also teaches the white man kept the black man down) and his huge influential African American church because you will sell out or use anyone (even 20 year relationships) on your quest for power.
The old saying "you reap what you sow" comes immediately to mind. Like Icarus, Sarah Palin reached for the sun, couldn't take the heat and is now falling to the ground.
ReplyDeleteThe people who still think she's presidential material amuse me. 2.5 years as governor of one of the second least-populous state in the nation qualifies her to be America's leader. Of course, these are the same folks who said President Obama didn't have the chops after 3.5 years in the US Senate from the seventh-largest state in the union (his state senate district had as many people as the state of Alaska does).
Sarah Palin is a truly tragic figure, you betcha.
Vox....Palin did not "reach" for the sun. She was approached and asked to run as McCain's VP choice.
ReplyDeleteBUT for Palin, that election would not have been close at all.
Do you believe everything you hear on TV? Do you watch MSNBC? You must if you think Palin "reached" for the sun.
She simply was serving her state and was called. It's McCain's fault she wasn't ready, not Palin's.
Her executive experience as mayor and governor, while not deep compared to most presidential and vice-presidential candidates, far exceeded Obama's zero executive experience.
ReplyDeleteThis debate is about the merits of Obama/Palin is so tired and as of last election, OVER! Gasp! Swoon! A politican says something that's not completely true! A politician does something that's not totally kosher!
ReplyDeleteBut I to agree with AI on this one. When you can report as FACT that a rumor exists as news, that's pretty damn scary. But let's not act like this is a one-way thing. Anybody remember the rumor about the existence of a videotape of Michelle Obama saying "Whitey." Yes, it came from a pro-Clinton blogger, but he says his source was GOP, and conservative bloggers churned it mercilessly once "the existence of this rumor" was reported, didn't they now?
I do have to say though that Palin is going to have a very hard time recovering after leaving office mid-term.
ReplyDeleteFirst, Paul, I did not use the term mentally unbalanced" That assessment is your terminology. Secondly, HFFT. Obama won 365 electoral votes to 173 for McCain. He had 6 1/2 million more votes than McCain and his winning percentage was 7% over McCain. I dont think anyone can honestly say that was a close election especially in view of the 2000 and 2004.
ReplyDeleteRoger Stone, a GOP political consultant, led many people astray on the Michele Obama whitey tape. He claimed he knew for a fact that at least one news organization had it in their possession. Remember, he made this claim shortly after he was the first to raise the Eliot Spitzer rumors that many initially dismissed but turned out to be true. I always found it odd that Obama operatives assumed it was true and started putting out the spin that what sounded like "whitey" on the tape was actually her saying "why'd he". Why did Obama operatives go to the trouble of explaining a non-existent tape? If it didn't exist, there was no reason to offer such silly explanations. I believe Michele has used the term in the past and the Obama campaign knew it. After all, she joined one of Chicago's most reknowned racist churches before her husband joined her at the same church. Of course, we are to believe that neither one of them ever heard Rev. Wright say those awful things he said at any of the church services they attended there over the period of at least a decade.
ReplyDeleteAI:
ReplyDeleteAnd again rumor gets churned as a "news fact." Sorry, but news should prove.
By the way, your premise is false. The Obama campaign never assumed the tape was true. To my knowledge, nobody affiliated with the campaign ever said anything. Some D bloggers offered their best guess about what Michelle might have said to prompt somebody who was so inclined to misconstrue her remarks.
But even if this came from Axelrod, why would they to do this? Precisely because people were saying there WAS A tape, and even without any proof, bloggers were spreading the rumor, an allegation that could have derailed the whole campaign. I'm embarrassed to say this now, but even I contacted the Obama camp myself to inquire because the release of such a tape AFTER the primary certainly would have doomed Obama's chances when it was too late to ask for Hillary back.
I think it's sad that you can't simply recognize that what happened to Obama is EXACTLY THE SAME as what happened to Palin here - rumor gets churned as NOT fact but as "existence of a rumor" until a candidate has to turn something that is a complete non-story into a story. This is precisely what the GOP wanted. To force Obama onto center stage making a denial of nothing while reminding people of his former association with Reverend Wright. The GOP KNEW the only way they win is if Obama takes the bait. He was smart enough to say, "Sorry, not playing your little game."
Unless you want every campaign to become a smear trough, you better joined me in denouncing these tactics - irrespective of whose in the cross-hair.
Again, IPOPA, you give a complete pass to the Obamas for attending a racist church for more than a decade. The Ds have long smeared Rs for any association with the likes of Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell and other religious right figures. I still believe it is inconceivable that a couple could attend a church for more than a decade at which anti-Semitic and anti-white rhetoric was part of the standard discourse and not share those views.
ReplyDeleteAI,
ReplyDeleteSince the day Sarah Palin stepped in the fray, her family has been a constant political prop for her. She made little or no attempt to shelter her children from media scrutiny. I have no sympathy. You let the media in, and you get what you get.
As far as Palin goes, why isn't it fair for the media to ask questions or raise red flags?
You have stoked rumors about everything from his sexual orientation to his political dealings to his citizenship about President Obama from the beginning. It seems like it's ok only when the right does it?
The Obamas have used their children as props time and time again, but I don't see the media picking on them, making fun of how big Michelle's ass is or how expensive and elitist the school is their children are attending, how much money Barry and Michelle spend on clothing and jewelry (or perhaps receive for free?). As for the rumors about Obama, there is a man by the name of Larry Sinclair who swears under oath he had sex with Obama and did drugs with him in the back of a limousine in Chicago. He has just published a book, which I will review in the future. Yes, I've reported on that because there is a person with first-hand knowledge who makes these allegations. Yes, I've reported extensively on Obama's close ties to convicted political fixer Tony Rezko because it's true. I've reported on how Rezko helped Obama purchase his million-dollar Chicago mansion because it's true. I've reported on how Obama took more than a $112,000 payment from a company for legal work at the same time he lobbied to obtain state grant money for the company because it's true. I've reported on how his campaigns dug up dirt on his political opponents about their marriage difficulties in an effort to destroy them because it's true. Sorry if you can't deal with the truth.
