Liberals Missing In Action On Obama's Faith-Based Spending
For the past eight years, liberals bashed President George W. Bush and his support and funding of faith-based initiatives. They are remarkably silent when it comes to President Barack Obama's plan to increase spending in this area. Whatever Bush did out of that small White House office is peanuts compared to what is included in President Obama's "stimulus" plan, which contains $100 million for faith-based organizations through the Compassion Capital Fund.
I'm not a fan of the faith based programs. I see them as a real blurring of the line between church and state. However, at least the new administration does plan to require the firms to use non-discriminatory hiring practices. I guess that's a small ray of light through the otherwise cloudy subject.
ReplyDeleteI hear that coming from the Obama folks, but I also know that he has involved Rev. Jim Meeks in these discussions. Meeks led the fight for passage of a constitutional amendment to bar same-sex marriages in Illinois. I haven't heard the Left complaining any about his involvement with faith-based initiatives in the Obama White House.
ReplyDeleteI also am not a fan of faith based programs..locally most seem to be no more than the purchase of support at election times.....AI, you complained when Dems did not support them and now you are complaining when they do....which would you want the Dems to do...support or oppose them???
