Another Tax Cheat In The Obama Administration
Yet another key nominee of the Obama administration has been caught cheating on his taxes according to ABC News. Former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle, Obama's pick to run the Department of Health and Human Services, couldn't get by without a chauffeured car like he enjoyed as a top Senate leader when he lost re-election four years ago. A big Democratic contributor furnished Daschle with a Cadillac and driver for the past four years as part of a consulting gig he set up for him with InterMedia. Daschle never paid any income tax on his expensive fringe benefit until he began the vetting process to become HHS Secretary. Now, Daschle is belatedly paying over $100,000 in back taxes, interest and penalty. A Daschle spokesman says he "deeply regrets the mistake." This little hiccup should pose no problem for Daschle since tax cheating didn't disqualify Timothy Geithner to be Treasury Secretary. And Daschle will only have to tend to welfare cheats in his new job, not tax cheats like Geithner. I'm curious why Obama's accountant hasn't told him he needs to amend his tax returns to reflect the six-figure gift he received courtesy of Tony Rezko when he helped Obama purchase his Chicago mansion.
Birds of a feather, flocking together.
ReplyDeleteWho knew that Barack Obama had a personal chef at his Chicago home? Yes, he could and he did. Sam Kass, personal chef, has moved to D.C. where he is now working as his personal chef at the White House. People should be asking more questions about how the Obamas could afford their extravagant lifestyle these past few years.
