Crooks Calls Eric Miller "Worst Hoosier"

WISH-TV's political reporter Jim Shella quotes State Rep. Dave Crooks (D-Washington) as saying Advance America's Eric Miller is "the most misleading and dishonest person [he's] ever met in the Statehouse.” “If you people listening out there are sending this guy money, you oughta be ashamed,” Shellas quotes Crooks. The legislator owns his own radio station in Washington, Indiana where he hosts a weekly radio show. A new feature on his show, "Worst Hoosier," gave first honors to Miller according to Shella. Shella speculates that Crooks wouldn't have said what he did if he didn't own his own radio station and wasn't up for re-election.

Well, someone had to say it, somewhere. Maybe now that it's been said, others will be emboldened to step forward and repeat its truth.

  3. Eric Miller is the embodiment of how hate can parade as love. He professes Christian values while walking like the devil. People like him and his conservative right wing crew all acting in God's name are the ruination of the nation. Their seasons of hate at anything different than their philosophies have captured the collective apathies of a segment of the nation and turned that into a voting block that itimidates many office holders. We need wise men that can see through the muddy gunk of their veil and move the state and nation forward to a more moderate thinking people who accept all people and garner the best from each group for a collectively better life. Pursuit of happiness in the minds eye of these haters is no better than the Brown Shirts of Hitlers Germany or the Turbined heads of the Mullahs that attacked us on 9/11.

Yet Crooks shares Miller's support of SJR7, as evidenced by his vote for it in 2005.

    Gary,

The Lambda Law society at the law school had a meeting last night and we were discussing Advance America's 501(c)(3) status. I know you've posted about it a few times before. What's the latest on that? Is the IRS investigating or are they turning the blind eye?

Miller might be the worst hoosier but Mitch is a close second.

Of course the legislators and other feeders of the system don't like Eric Miller because he is for the elimination of property taxes--that really makes him public enemy number one--Any intrusion and calling public attention to the great public scam game(property tax extortion) of all time most certainly brings them out of the woodwork and onto the floors of the state house like roaches. The government is the planless group. OOps, They have a plan- bilk the homeowner and hope they don't notice.

6:49, yes there are people who listen to Miller. Republicans in the General Assembly fear him. If you piss Miller off bad enough, he will take you out. Here's how it works:

You (the Republican legislator) are in a safe Republican district, you may have even run unopposed or barely opposed in your past races.

Miller and his right wing cronies come after you in the low-turnout primaries, not the general election, by convincing his fundamentalist sheeple to go the polls.

A no-name with a wallet, Miller's support, and a few congregations of fundies going to the polls can be all it takes in a primary where it may only take a couple of thousand votes to win.

If you don't believe me, ask Bob Garton or Larry Borst. Both were veteran state senators who were taken out as described above by Miller-ites (two of the biggest fools in the General Assembly I might add).

Do not underestimate the power and influence of Eric I. Miller.

9:53, it's a good recipe you recite, for taking out an entrenched senator. Both Garton and Borst had stayed way too long, and needed to go, and a primary was the only effective way to do it.

But it wasn't just a couple thousand votes. As I recall, Garton got about 19,000 votes, his opponent about 25,000. Ditto with Borst.

Yeah, their replacements are goofs. But it was not an idle exercise. It took a lot of planning and commitment, and Garton/Borst were fools to not recognize it. Kinda like a huge elephant wandering around your living room.

6:33 AM EST - I don't like Miller but others - many Democrats and most mainstream Republicans - can hardly be called helpful in the advancement of gay rights.

Harry Reid voted for the Defense of Marriage act and Bill Clinton signed it.
