Dvorak Investigating Roseland Council Arrest
It was the decision of St. Joseph Co. Prosecutor Michael Dvorak's office to drop felony battery charges against Roseland town council member David Snyder after his forceful removal by Town Marshal Jack Tiller from last Friday's council meeting. Dvorak won't say whether his office is investigating allegations Tiller used excessive force against Snyder, who sustained a concussion during the arrest, but the incident remains under "investigation and consideration" Dvorak tells the South Bend Tribune. A WNDU video of the incident shows Tiller shoving Snyder before moving outside the camera's view followed by an audible commotion. When the television camera catches sight of the two again, Tiller was on top of Snyder while he was laying face down, and he can be seen repeatedly striking Snyder in the head.
Finally we get some common sense from a prosecutor! The officer NEEDS to be charged. You can hear him heckling Snyder after he pummels him. "did you fall down"?, "did you hit your head"?
ReplyDeleteC'mon....
When are law enforcement or wanna be police going to be held accountable?
ReplyDeleteI'm beginning to believe that they allow too many people to be in the law enforcement occupation.
But possibly in this case the council was responsible for the action of the town marshall. I don't believe in most cases that someone that shows up at a council meeting is going to be a physical threat. If they were they would had done so without making their presence known.
In other news about "police" what the hell are campus "police" doing with taser guns. I wish I could use those guns on them over and over making them squeal like pigs.
My personal opinion is that South Bend should annex the darn town and be done with their incompetent already.
ReplyDeleteoops I mean ...their incompetent leadership already.
ReplyDeleteLots of departments have tasers to reduce the risk of injury. So in this situation the officer didn't tase him and had to strongarm him, and he's facing criminal charges. In the other the officer's tased him and you still think they were in the wrong? I can't speak to UF's policy manual but about half of all departments in the nation have the taser at the very bottom of the force continuum. Basically what this means is that before you have to put your hands on somebody in a forceful manner you can tase them.
ReplyDeletePolitically speaking they'll probably get in trouble, but there's a very good chance they were following their training and policy. Personally I couldn't think of a worse place to have to deal with a combative person than at a speech full of Democrats. Yikes.
Roseland officer under investigation 2000-09-28 10:13:59-05
ReplyDeleteThe conduct of Jack Tiller RPD is once again the subject of an investigation by the St. Joseph County Prosecutor. In the latest case, a RPD officer allegedly choked a suspect while the suspect was handcuffed. The Roseland PD did its own investigation, which cleared the officer of any wrongdoing. However, the allegations of brutality are largely based on the statements from another officer from SJCPD who was on the scene that night.....
I can't believe that this officer is still on the job, let alone not being investigated. Is this the 12th century? The conduct of some of the bystanders taunting this poor guy is also inexcusable. This is not how responsible and mature people behave.
ReplyDeleteMy father was a chief of police in Wisconsin for many years. Jack Tiller is a disgrace to the badge. that fat jerk should be arrested and given a taste of his own medicine. I hope he is prosecuted. If not Roseland should move south of the mason/dixon line.

ReplyDeleteCheck out David Snyder's press release on the "grand jury investigation."
Did you all see where Tiller got busted for beating his own young daughter, slamming her to the ground and spitting on her? The local friendly prosecutor called it a "misdemeanor". That fat ass punk needs his ass kicked.
