GLBT Wants Abduallah's Seat
Pressure from Indianapolis' GLBT community is being applied to Marion County Democratic Chairman Mike O'Connor to give its community a seat at the table by naming one of its own to replace City-County Councilor Patrice Abduallah (D), who was forced to resign after this blog's investigative work helped unravel the fact he hasn't been living in the district for quite some time, if ever at all, during the past four years. "Indianapolis is the 12th largest city in the United States, but you wouldn't know it from the way the LGBT community is treated," Bil Browning writes at Bilerico today. He thinks the Democratic Party goes out of its way to assuage the city's African-American community to the detriment of its growing and influential GLBT population. His own snooping leads him to conclude Andre Carson, grandson of U.S. Rep. Julia Carson (D) is going to get the nod. "While I have nothing against Andre Carson (or his grandmother), I'm forced to wonder when the Indianapolis democrats would actually consider recruiting a gay candidate to represent the heavily gay district," he writes. "While several political districts at all levels of government are drawn to ensure African-American representation, when do we get the right to represent ourselves?" Bil raises a legitimate concern, but there's not a snowball's chance in hell the Democrats will let this seat go to a non-African-American, particularly when Mayor Bart Peterson's re-election is dependent upon his support in the African-American community. Unless he can come up with a very active, black member of the GLBT community, he may as well forget this idea.
Gary, I'm not so sure about that. Maybe we should get together with Indy Pride to talk. The gay community can rally and be very vocal when they want to be. If the Democrats want to support Peterson's vision of a world class diverse city, they would be wise to select a gay council member.
ReplyDeleteIs there anyone in that district that comes to mind?
Gary Welsh comes to mind.
ReplyDeleteBefore the gay community gets excited about the possibility of one of their own in the 15th District seat, they need to look at a map and the demographics of the district. The district is more Black and not as gay as one might think.
ReplyDeleteBut this again brings forth THE POINT. The Democraps talk the big tent concept, but they are only going to cater to those they can impoverish and hence retain control over them. WAKE UP PEOPLE. There has to be better choices......
ReplyDeleteIt's not like the district gets to vote on this. This decision will be made by the democrats.
ReplyDeleteCertainly the democrats don't believe that a gay man is incapable of wisely representing this district do they?
I think having a guy like Gary Welsh on council would be great. But isn't he a republican? Don't you have to be a democrat to be considered?
"come up with a very active, black member of the GLBT community"
ReplyDeleteWilson Allen?
Oh wait he lives in Scott Keller's district, and he only thinks he's black.
If I read the maps right there's more gays in Jackie Nytes' district 9 than in 15, and Districts 3 and 4 up in Washington Blvd and Broad Ripple areas.
Steve Campbell?
ReplyDeleteWilson Allen would be great in that seat.
ReplyDeleteW-I-L-S-O-N !!!!!!!!!!
I do not think it would be a wise move for Andre Carson to be given this seat.
ReplyDeleteIt just strikes me odd that a person tied in with the black supremacist Nation Of Islam is representative of that district.
Funny Gary, how you are upset about not getting credit for exposing Abduallah, yet fail to give me credit for being the one to expose the Carson Machine being behind the move in order to free the seat for Andre.
ReplyDeleteI'm a registered Republican so I don't qualify. The Steve Campbell choice is interesting, but he would have to come out of the closet don't you think?
ReplyDeleteScribe, don't flatter yourself. The information on Andre Carson came from a well-informed Democrat, not an anonymous nobody like you who likes taking shots at people without uncovering your mask. A real man you are there, Scribe.
ReplyDeleteCheck out this hilarious video of Monroe Gray that was recently posted on youtube. After viewing this one, check out the rest!

Scribe, don't make me laugh. The Carson gulag was not responsible for throwing Patrice over the edge. They were sitting around with their heads up their asses, and a few, notably King Ro, were arguing that Patrice should stay.
ReplyDeleteThe mayor's office met with the Democratic caucus Tuesday afternoon. Not all were there, but 10-13. So were the chief deputy mayor and the county chair.
The mayor heard the Patrice argument, in its all, for the very first time that afternoon. Laugh if you want, but until now, he's kept his hands off council internal nonsense. He believed they were capable of running their own ship.
Which was a huge error, because their crap gets spilled on him, too. These folks need adult supervision.
Bart listened to the arguments, and, I'm guessing, demanded that something be done immediately. It was.
Look for him to get more involved in the council's internal business. Hell he might as well, if he has to get blamed for their poop brigade.
Andre Carson getting this seat would spell a lot of trouble for the Dems.
Bil will realize, of course, soon, enough, that this district is probably not the one to push a gay candidate on. And of course it must be a Democrat.
And for those who think we don't have a gay councillor already, think again. I count at least two. One relatively quiet about it, one in outright open denial.
(sigh)
And for those who think we don't have a gay councillor already, think again. I count at least two. One relatively quiet about it, one in outright open denial.
ReplyDeleteThere are 3..
I won't mention names because AI would delete them anyway. We are thinkig of 2 of the same I'm sure, but you're missing one!!!!
10% of 29 is what?
ReplyDeleteTo be clear hear, the comment about Steve Campbell was made in jest. Please don't take it seriously. He's very heterosexual from what I understand.
ReplyDeleteIs Andre Carson married to Angela Lewis-Carson...Asst. Vice Principle of Bridgeport Elementary in Wayne Township Schools?
ReplyDeleteThey live in the 46268 District...Pike Township...not 15th District...check it out..
To the illiterate anonytroll above: Andre's wife is not named Angela..
ReplyDelete(P.S. Didn't you remember how to spell principal/principle? The PrinciPAL is your PAL!)
Wilson...it was an honest question...Mother Carson has two babies...
ReplyDeleteAndre still has to prove he has lived in the District for two years, or he doesn't meet the requirements of District seats...
But your so smart...why not run him as an At-large genious...Too bad...I hear he has some baggage he better clean up first...it is all going to come out Wilson...
Hahah!!!!
Sure thing, Gary.
ReplyDeleteWhy are you so obsessed with the fact that I remain anonymous? Why do you have such a tough time understanding that not all of us are into self-promotion, unlike yourself and your fellow Rainbow Warriors over at hate site Bilerico?
The Carson Machine did this, no doubt about it.
Perhaps they were Mary Milz's source?
Actually, Andre doesnt have to prove he lives anywhere. Others have to prove he has not lived where he said he does for the required length of time...
ReplyDeleteScribe, the real question is why you are so obsessed with me since I seem to be the center of so much of what you obsess about. Do you need help coming to terms with your self-identity? Are those hidden desires tearing at your sole and ripping you apart? Are you on the verge of becoming another Glenn Murphy?
ReplyDeleteWilson...that last statement says everything that is wrong with you and the Carson Machine...
ReplyDeleteFortunately the nightmare is almost over...election day can't come any quicker!
That's the basic and long-standing Indiana residency law: a person files an affidavit stating the address. It's taken as true. Others have to disprove it. Nothing to do with Carson or Indianapolis, just basic law true in most states...
ReplyDeleteBut the covert, anonymous haters here seem to be ignorant of American democracy and constitutional practices...take off the hoods and read a book or two!
Why don't we get off the gay lesbian issue and focus on Andre being another of the ghetto mafia being put in office by the mother of all crooks!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure the democraps can find an honest GL for a replacement for Abfoola!
Why are you so obsessed with the fact that I remain anonymous?
ReplyDeleteBecause YOU want credit for something.
It's like when people say something like
"they say..." Well, who are "THEY"?
Can't give credit to a ghost!
Time to get overyourself.
It's time someone said this:
ReplyDelete1. Wilson, enough with the hood references already. Not everyone who jousts verbally with you, is a Klan member or racist. Your constant reference to such is disgusting and distorted.
2. You're not our den mother. Knock off with all the grammar/spelling/typo patrol, OK? It's clear you lord this over us, and it's getting a little old. Like so many of your posts, it deflects comments away from the real subject.
3. Residency validation: why would anyone even think of filing for a seat, and then making the public prove the candidacy is improper due to residency? You're technically right about the law, but your comment belies a very sick, twisted view of the elections process. Maybe you need to put a hood ON, or a bag over your head...
4. Scribe, Gary: knock it off. I'm fully aware who started the Patrice stuff. You're off base.
DAMN. Sometiems blog reading is heavy lifting.
Wilson,
ReplyDeleteI am a man from immigrant roots...we have never owned slaves or people of color...nor have we ever oppressed them in society through everday standards and practices...
Why can't you understand that the black community and Center Township of Marion County, particulary in this case the Fifteenth Council District...DESERVE better than they have been getting under your machine...
I use to live in brightwood 16th and Rural...Your Matriarch of all that is holy in Center Township Politics...has forsaken all black folks and tired to keep them poor....she has done nothing for this City or her Congressional District!!!!!Nothing....it is time to move forward...and you are going to have to fins a new line of work!!!!Because your gone in NOV...all of you....
"That's the basic and long-standing Indiana residency law: a person files an affidavit stating the address. It's taken as true. Others have to disprove it."
ReplyDeleteIt is taken as true because they expect that a candidate would not be lying. Silly thought, I know. Wilson makes it sound as if he thinks it is ok to lie about their residency. And that if later other are able to disprove it, then it should be dealt with then? And what happens when/if it is dispproved? He says "oopsie, guess I'll step down too" What good does that do for the citizens. What ever happened to honesty the first time around. If he doesn't meet the residency requirement, then let's hear about it NOW, so we are not wasting citizens time and money to fight this same battle later. No wonder people think politics is so dirty, with people playing games like this.
Scribe, the real question is why you are so obsessed with me since I seem to be the center of so much of what you obsess about. Do you need help coming to terms with your self-identity? Are those hidden desires tearing at your sole and ripping you apart? Are you on the verge of becoming another Glenn Murphy?
ReplyDeleteHow ironic it is that you, of all people, are questioning my manhood. Priceless... I am purely heterosexual, and there is no danger of my suddenly living a deviant lifestyle that leads to corruption and ruining of the soul.
I'm not obsessed with you at all, no more than you are with yourself. I'm just going to call a spade a spade, and you are a bigot, pure and simple (oh, the irony in that). Combine that with your antagonism with LEO's and firefighters and you are correct in stating that I have an eye on you.
But don't flatter yourself, you're only one of about 150 sites I subscribe to, and one of about a dozen I comment on.
BTW, I find it hilarious that you think Milz stole from you, when she's probably never heard of you. Her likely sources were in The Carson Machine. Abduallah's residency was no more a secret the past few years then Carson's was when elected to her first Congressional term, or Bart's, or a number of people. You were simply the first to run with it, and for that you do deserve credit (as I've mentioned before).
This pissing match between Gary and Scribe is accomplishing absolutely nothing other than battering each other's egos.
ReplyDeleteThe Patrice affair expose was pretty damn lightweight.
You two bloggers want to do something REALLY important?
Which of you will take on black organized crime in Indianapolis by outing the Illegal Numbers Racket here. Who will be the first to get the REAL evidence and name name with PROOF?
It doesn't take a lot of effort or balls for that matter, to "out" a Council member who was going to get "outed" anyway. Taking on the black orgainized crime syndicate is another entirely different story and neither of you have the guts to take it on. If you do, I sure don't see it.
So both of you need to climb out if your sandbox and do something REALLY important. Who knows, busting the numbers racket here might either get you real famous, killed or both.
Yes, you both toss around the silly Ghetto Mafia term without even the slightest clue as to the fact that there is indeed, a REAL black mafia in this town. You want to bring down the so-called Carson Machine, then bring down the racketeering operation that allows them to stay in power. Anything short of that is bullsit.
Scribe, or Micah, Bigoted people like you make me sick. You call yourself a Christian and then run around promoting bigotry and hate against people because of the way they were born. It's people like you who are ruining the Republican Party. As for the source of Milz' story, I receive hits on this site daily from WTHR. Somebody at that news station is reading this blog on a daily basis. And believe me Scribe, your days of anonymity are limited.
ReplyDeleteSomeone recently pointedout that Steve Campbell is like Smithers and the mayor is Mr. Burns from the Simpsons. I wonder if the Bart Lies photoshop staff will run with that one?
ReplyDeleteIf this analysis is found to be true, then that would conclusively prove that Steve Campbell IS gay!
Just why are some Republicans so fascinated by whom Steve Campbell does in bed?
ReplyDeleteLinda Perdue is in that district now and she'd be AWESOME!
ReplyDeleteRun Linda, run!!
I've never heard Gary use the term "ghetto mafia."
ReplyDeleteAnd take it from me--Patrice was not about to be outed. The Republicans knew about this for a long time, and fomr some reason, perhaps the overhwelming D nature of his district, left it alone.
Council Dems were told two years ago by Patrice himself, that he'd "fixed" his problem. Their mistake?
They believed the lying councilman.
Scribe, "hate site Bilerico"? You definately have some issues.
ReplyDeleteGary, "Scribe, the real question is why you are so obsessed with me since I seem to be the center of so much of what you obsess about. Do you need help coming to terms with your self-identity?"
Bingo!
Scribe, "How ironic it is that you, of all people, are questioning my manhood. Priceless... I am purely heterosexual, and there is no danger of my suddenly living a deviant lifestyle that leads to corruption and ruining of the soul."
ReplyDeleteSure, that's what Ted Hagaard used to say.
Scribe, "I'm not obsessed with you at all, no more than you are with yourself. I'm just going to call a spade a spade, and you are a bigot, pure and simple (oh, the irony in that)."
ReplyDeleteLove it how when people run out of justification for their position they then move on to attacking their opponent personally.
Ah, I see, because I believe homosexuality is a choice, that makes me a bigot? Pretty lame for a well educated guy like yourself to make such a silly, baseless claim like that.
ReplyDeleteSites like Bilerico and yours that promote such a level of hatred and animosity towards anyone of faith is no different than the bigotry that you accuse me of, hence the irony.
No, I'm not Micah Clark (though that wouldn't be an insult), but I find it hilarious that you are so obsessed with my identity.
Two quick thoughts on that:
1) The list of people who do know is extremely short, and not made up of anyone you likely know. I have no doubts that they will maintain my identity, particularly from you.
2) I must be hitting pretty close to home for you to have such an obsessesion with my identity. Perhaps it's because I'm the only one willing to call you out and point out your own bigotry? No doubt you aren't used to someone approaching the throne and daring to point out that the Emperor has no clothes. Egomaniacs rarely appreciate such attention.
Gary, you've been outed. Two can play at this game.
