Super Bowl XLI: Bears V. Colts
Trailing 21-3 at one point in the first half, the Colts managed a record-breaking comeback to defeat the New England Patriots 38-34 to claim the AFC title. Coach Dungy credited the Lord with the win. For the first time in the franchise's history in Indianapolis, the Colts will make an appearance in the Super Bowl, facing off against the NFC winning-Chicago Bears. Peyton Manning finally proves he can win the big game. I personally didn't think he could do it. I suspect NFL broadcasters aren't too excited about having two neigbhoring Midwest teams in the Super Bowl game in Miami this year. The matchup may not produce the ratings a Patriot-Bears matchup would have earned, but it will definitely give folks in the northern part of the state, who are primarily Bears fans, plenty to debate with Colts fans in the rest of the state between now and February 4. GO COLTS!
Nit: it's Coach Dungy.
ReplyDeleteSince I'm from "da Region" or as some like to call it now "The South Shore" I'm originally a Bears fan.
I don't care who wins just hope it's one HELL of a game.
DA BEARS!!
Sorry bout that. Typing on the fly while I was trying to watch the TV.
ReplyDeleteWell if you watched the Bears game, QB Grossman looked a little lost at times. I think the Colts will bring it HOME!
ReplyDeleteWatching the post-game blather, I gather someone told several members of the Colts organization that God cares deeply about football and willed the Colts' victory.
ReplyDeleteGod does not give a Damn about football. Nor should He
ReplyDeleteBut She does favor the Fever!
ReplyDeleteGod may not care about football, but He certainly is pleased with the character that Tony Dungy portrays.
ReplyDeleteTom Brady, after living a full life, died. When he got to heaven, God was showing him around. They came to a modest little house with a faded Patriots flag in the window. "This house is yours for eternity, Tom," said God. "This is very special; not everyone gets a house up here." Tom felt special, indeed, and walked up to his house.
ReplyDeleteOn his way up the porch, he noticed another house just around the corner. It was a 3-story mansion with a Blue & White sidewalk, a 50 foot tall flagpole with an enormous COLTS logo flag, and in every window, A Colts emblem. Tom looked at God and said "God, I'm not trying to be ungrateful, but I have a question. I was an all-pro QB, I won 3 Super Bowls, won 2 Super Bowl MVP awards and was selected for 3 Pro Bowls"
God said "So what's your point Tom?"
"Well, why does Peyton Manning get a better house than me?"
God chuckled, and said "Tom, that's not Peyton's house, it's mine."
