In fact, the Right needs people to be angry and in turmoil in the Christian community, so that they can continue to win their elections and gut the government. Who else would mortgage their soul to win tax cuts for other people and screw themselves in the process?

By the way, this is the same kind of witchhunt and smear campaign attempted in 1998 in Lafayette against teachers and administrators. Even though the community rallied behind the affected -- true persecution as they were harassed on their phones, at work, in the office of the superintendent and followed-- a good number of good folks left and went to other schools and towns where they didn't have this harassment.

I don't hear these "Christians" claiming anyone did all THAT to them. They just didn't get to publish their anti-gay views... poor babies.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12703782.post-1154532611456973102006-08-02T10:30:00.000-05:002006-08-02T10:30:00.000-05:00Christians in this country who cry about persecuti...Christians in this country who cry about persecution should go spend some time in Sudan, China, or most places in the Middle East. Then they might know the meaning of the word.

When so-called Christians control every branch of government, their cries of persecution are hollow.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12703782.post-1154529353496678382006-08-02T09:35:00.000-05:002006-08-02T09:35:00.000-05:00Which federal judge is hearing this case, AI?Which federal judge is hearing this case, AI?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12703782.post-1154529097414480842006-08-02T09:31:00.000-05:002006-08-02T09:31:00.000-05:00I know someone who is a gay adult male who had can...I know someone who is a gay adult male who had cancer two years ago. In the workplace, it was immediately assumed he had HIV because of his appearance, and because he was not formally "out," but did not hide his sexual orientation.

The hatred and bias he faced thereafter, working for a major national corporation, was unreal.

AI's argument about "outing" does have a vein of consistency to it. I respect that.

But in the real world, when these things occur, it's chilling. And it happened at a time when my friend was not in a frame of mind to deal with workplace bias. He was fighting for his life.

By the way, he beat cancer, but not the workplace bias. He left the company. He couldn't ever "prove" the change in attitude toward him was directed at his sexuality, but we all know what often happens in these cases.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12703782.post-1154520962694859372006-08-02T07:16:00.000-05:002006-08-02T07:16:00.000-05:00I am so WEARY of the attitude of certain Christian...I am so WEARY of the attitude of certain Christian conservatives that disagreement with their views is akin to persecution. You want persecution? Try witchhunts where people lose their jobs, their homes or their lives. This DOES exist in the world, against gays and Christians both - both the anti-Christian variety DOES NOT occur in Indiana! Just having someone not agree with you is NOT persecution or discrimination.

I didn't think there was anything that would make me feel sorry for the Indianapolis Star - but these folks have found it.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12703782.post-1154520382665261122006-08-02T07:06:00.000-05:002006-08-02T07:06:00.000-05:00I think anyone who publicly advocates anti-gay pol...I think anyone who publicly advocates anti-gay policies while hiding the fact that they are gay is a proper time for outing because of the sheer hypocrisy involved.Gary R.
